I've been learning French for about a year and a half, and i would consider myself to be fluent. English is my first language as spanish is my second, i grew up in a hispanic household. I learned Japanese when i was about 10 years old, and got "fluent" by 11 1/2, and started learning french when i was 14. Now im 15. English and Spanish were the languages i grew up speaking, and I used manga as my reason to learn the other two. I began reading english manga, then started reading both spanish and english manga when I went on vacation to spain and decided to get spanish manga. I decided to learn Japanese for a lot of benefits like being ahead of the english/spanish releases and reading series that were canceled in english and series that probably have no chance of being translated. I decided to learn french since they have a lot of exclusive for manga, like a limited edition manga volume so thats my reasons for learning two other languages and being able to speak/write/read 4 languages

Very good video! I'm on the same journey as you as a native English speaker, although I'm only 101 days in. I wanted to mention that since you're not a native English speaker, when you were talking about "Medicine content" in your video, I think you actually meant to say "Medical content". Besides that you speak some good English, and I hope I can get that good in Japanese someday :)

Having been to Japan for 2 months I realized that not speaking handicapped my listening comprehension. So I would recommend people read out loud the anime/manga/book dialog getting both reading and speaking practice then sending in your recording to a Japanese teacher for areas of improvements. The AJATT system is flawed due to lack of output since the idea is to maximize language acquisition. At the same time congrats on your progress

It's interesting to see that approuch, for my english I started speaking after I had a god listening comprehension, It didn't really felt handicapped in any way, But maybe is because of the difference in our native language, at least Japanese listening seems really easy when compared to learning english.

@@Elisian-yo8xq It is easy but if you speak Japanese for many words and you are off in pronunciation given the context many Japanese people will give you the blank stare. English allow for bad pronunciation and most native speakers can usually figure out what you are saying plus only one alphabet. Also another thing almost nobody talks about is learning menus. I would also recommend search for Japanese menus and quiz yourself on them will make your life so much easier plus you can order things that many times are not written on the menu.

@@southcoastinventors6583 Yeah honestly I agree with everything here, speaking Japanese is hard for sure. The menus thing I didn't really know about, will search about it. Thank you!

There are different schools of thought on this topic. A lot of people say don't speak at all for the most part, it will come naturally through enough immersion. Others say start speaking from the beginning. Just like everything in life it will depend on each individual.
