Did you guys notice the tone of the taiko drum? They are paying respect to the soldiers killed in action but there is not a hint of sadness in the procession music and the ritual. I think this provides critical clues to the mindsets of Imperial soldiers and their fanaticism. These drum beats and ritual dance feels more like the kind of rally to get soldiers mentally ready to do battle. This clearly shows that they were operating under the mindsets similar to Madmax warboys and under a Bushido/Shinto afterlife belief that is similar to ancient Nordic beliefs of Valhala. I don't think these guys were sad or trying to make peace at all; I think the ritual is meant to celebrating, congratulating, and revering the "triumph" and "glorious transcendence" of the dead spirits and rally them to march towards some version of Valhalla kind of afterlife. Again, this is so much different from the somber and peaceful Christian funeral procession. On a side note.
