I'm Georgian, so I'm going to be a little biased but only a little bit :) The Japanese are master Judoka, very brave and smart, no question about that ( besides that half-breed Aaron Wolf, what a coward! ) They know well both standing and ground work. Also, they have excellent stamina. The Georgians on the other hand have enormous power in their upper buddies, they're depend on heavy throws and pay no to little attention to newaza. What they lack is stamina. It seems to me that they run out of air really fast. I think judo is the best sport/martial art and when not cheering for my people I always cheer for the Japanese team :)

You're right on the Georgians being strong, but Lipartiliani is an exception, his ne waza is great.
@ichichu3 жыл бұрын
This is one of the reasons why judo in Japan does not focus on so much power, but prefer technique. The theory of judo is the way of least resistance. Muscles use more oxygen, so power means you need bigger and stronger muscles that will cause you to gas out more quickly.
@noahcaucasus3 жыл бұрын
Georgians lack discipline, it takes discipline to be and remain in top form and good shape, most Georgians rarely ever work on cardio it's always weights and strength, they also eat very dense food, good for strength, but not too light on feet, disciplined Georgian athlete is a force to be reckoned with.

I know it's not related to the topic but as a side note. Georgian Grips translate to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu really well, where as traditional Judo grips do not. In BJJ, if you hold traditional grips you will allow your opponent easier guard pull, however, whenever I hold them in Georgian Grips (double lapel, same side lapel and over the back, or under armpit) my opponents have a hard time pulling guard and if they do pull guard, it's a very weak guard position and easier to pass. I think this is a nice info for those who pick up Judo to help their BJJ stand up game.

Thanks to the current pandemic I work virtually and was also able to save up quite a next bit of cash, and so I'll be travelling next year. Thanks for this video, I want to go to Georgia and practice judo there. Japanese Judo players had been struggling a lot for years with Georgians' Unconventional kumikata One of the most famous cases is Toshihiko Koga couldn't perform his favorite technique Seoinage As Georgian Giorgi Tenadze continued to grip his back in the 1988 Olympics But strict restrictions on the Unconventional kumikata have been put in place since the 2010s, Dealing with them is easier than before, 'cuz if they become a Unconventional kumikata, they will be given shido if they don't set up a move immediately from there

What annoys me about Ippon-Judo is the scoring. Well, the Yoko and Koka is gone and one should be reintroduced. But the main point is that if you want to score an Ippon, you should either remain standing or land in a dominant position. If you roll over and end up on your back, it shouldn't be an Ippon. It may look good, but as a martial art it sucks.
@Chadi4 жыл бұрын
I agree rolling ippon should be maximum waza ari
@pelejahosoba52804 жыл бұрын
Shintaro higashi made a video on how to avoid that, but me in particular as someone with many street fights and encounters, subconsciously I know rolling over or the overhead is a bad idea,there are Stone's and dirt's on the streets, u don't wanna do that, so I always stand when landing ippon and I have a strong upper body

@@Chadi thank you for the response. Yeah, submissions in judo are not used as much as in bjj. But a green belt knows a big part of submissions, right ? I train my self in judo, in a dojo directed by an olimpic Champion, and I see green belt which knows a lot of useful techniques in a real life situations, like joint locks and chockes, both the legal and unlegal ones.

@@Chadi I to am a brute strength judoka,but generally especially in Nigeria here,it is the kodokan or pure Japanese style that is taught and emphasized, its very hard to utilize another judo style, because its alien to u and ur coaches,funny enough ur coaches could apprehend u for using such a style and tell u that u are even wrong, because they are clueless or only know the Japanese style, lastly Japanese style is very cool,elegant and dangerous, but I particularly want to know more about Georgian judo,but Japanese and Korean judo is what is done in Nigeria particularly in my own state, how is your health chadi

Im commenting before I watch the video, because the title itself made me jump on it to comment. There is no Japanese judo Vs anyone else. Japanese judo is way ahead of the rest of the worrld and throughout the years, one might guess that the gap between Japan’s judo and the rest of the world will close down and become smaller. But thats not the case, Japanese have a lead that the rest of the world cannot catch up neither they show any sign of catching up.
