@cashscience3 жыл бұрын
To answer your question in the video - I find this more realistic than Baki, because they did their homework on this show regarding specific martial arts (particularly grappling arts), and you can tell in a lot of the transitions from one hold to another.
@ReivasMC3 жыл бұрын
it's true that kengan is unrealistic at many points. But given many of your comments, I can say for sure you're no fighting expert or even decent at it... You might know a lot about "karate" after it's been watered down tho, not denying that, but by no means you know or understand violence. I know I'm just some random guy on the internet and what I say bears no consequence for you, just making it clear that you're not tricking anybody who has the least understanding of real martial arts... Guys like you are to blame for the fall of traditional martial arts sadly.
@cashscience3 жыл бұрын
@@ReivasMC Okay.... I'm 42 yrs old and I'll give you a rundown of my martial arts background (you do the math). (1) Started with Taekwondo and Hapkido @ age 13 under John Pellegrini. (2) from 19 yrs old trained in MCMAP during my time in the military. (3) After my discharge I trained in Krav Maga, then Haganah, and Survival Hisardut while in South FL. (4) Moved to Chicago and trained in Muay Thai, and BJJ (under Team Madiz competing @ NAGA and US Grappling), since 2013. Now - Would you like to ask me about any additional info - or would you rather keep using your "supernatural mental prowess" to tell you all you need to know about people you know nothing about?
@ReivasMC3 жыл бұрын
@@cashscience I don't give the slightest fuck about your curriculum lol. There's a reason why I didn't give mine, cause I'm a random on the internet, I could come up with all kinds of bs as you just did My point was made for him to see that real martial artists see through his bullcrap. I don't need supernatural powers to tell when someone's full of shit. as for you, I wasn't talking to you fanboy.

Kengan is quite realistic, but the manga explains everything a lot better. I would highly recommend reading it, and you could even go over some of the technique explanations they go over in the manga. Similar to what you said about baki, I've read both and kengan is by far my favorite

I’m actually surprised that you focused on this match considering how there were other factors in play in regards to the story that’s influencing that match. Plus it’s the 2nd to last match for the anime, but the start of the 2nd round of the tournament in the anime. To be honest the better matches for fighting style analysis would be Kanoh Agito vs Okubo Naoya, because of the mma style & how fighter adaptability played a part in it. The 2nd in regards to karate would have be Kuroki Gensai vs Lihito. Especially in regards to Gensai’s use of techniques such as the nukite. For contrasting styles, there’s Sekibayashi Jun vs Kiozan Takeru & Mokichi Robinson vs Kure Raian.
@devBadgerJ3 жыл бұрын
agreed on all these great points. This match was definitly a BJJ breakdown-y thing. Since a big deal about Seishu is that he had his weird murder cop style. Still always good to see more of Kengan.

I'm not surprised about that arm bar because the way he was standing it didn't look like a boxing stance it look more like MMA typos stands they hold their hands up similar to a boxer but they bounced around like that boxers don't bounce that way they they come right at you cuz he was doing a lot of ticking like a kickboxer so suddenly he does some MMA thing after his arm is already fractured the way that big guy was punching and that's crazy scary

Kengan Ashura is a Japanese anime, they just heavily used CGI to limit costs I think. Also I highly recommend reading the manga, they go into much deeper explanations about each fight. And the anime does cut out a lot of information. I would suggest watching either Kuroki vs Lhito (Rhito, depending on which translation you read) or Mokichi Robinson vs Raian Kure next
@sneakerjuice1856 Жыл бұрын
Its not hard to understand why they used CGI. The costs of fights like this in 2D would get the series cancelled by Netflix after 1 season, because anime doesnt get the viewer rates normal shows does. The fights are really good regardless of the use of CGI, tbh I barely noticed.

I'm lowkey mad that Kengan anime didn't have good fights with in-universe karatekas, Wakatsuki Takeshi (full contact karate) and Kuroki Gensai (traditional karate). They'd be perfect for you to react to, but they skipped Wakatsuki's first fight and Kuroki's fight with Rihito is his least impressive one (tho I'd still love to see you react to it).

Hello yusuke-san. I wanted to ask do you truly believe one can learn karate using KZbin videos?
@sonbaz3 жыл бұрын
I know he has not replied and anyone can feel free to disagree with me but the answer is definitely NO!. KZbin videos are a great aid to help you practice alone what you have learned under a instructor. If you don't go to a class and learn properly, you will develop bad habits in body posture and positioning. Never mind the experience lost between training with people of different shapes and sizes and strengths. There are probably lots more examples like a class will push you harder then left on your own but hope you see my point. Join a class :)

Imai didn't kick the knee, he almost stomped his thigh to stop Akoya. Also Imai could do the thing in the end because of the painkillers after his first fight with Adam and adrenaline spike before Akoya could finish him off. Most "realistic" martial arts anime would be Hajime no Ippo and Ashita no Joe, Baki has too much of a bizzare logic behind it. Yeah it seems realistic to the extent but sometimes you could only say "Whaaa?!". Kengan Asura is more or less between Hajime no Ippo and Baki in believability. But I guess most of the Baki's universe BS moments not animated yet.

Cosmo primarily fought under MMA rules, so he wasn't kicking the knee, when he was stopping Akoya's momentum early in the fight. He was kicking, or stomping on the upper thigh muscles, since kicking the knee is illegal in MMA, as far as I know. it's not like he wouldn't have been allowed that move in the anime, during the fight, considering the ruleset. He just simply did it the way he was used to by reflex
@nathantheophilus48562 жыл бұрын
Its not illegal, its never been illegal, stop spreading misinformation. Kicking the knee, upper thigh muscles, even calves, stomping the knees, all legal. Its just not as lethal a move as the movies bring it out to be. Only very few cases where they actually can end fights. Jon Jones uses it a lot. Robert Whittaker tore Darren Till's MCL with it but couldnt finish darren. Darren did a similar thing to Wonderboy. Khalil Rountree won a TKO with it .
