The Shikoku monkeys are fierce and can be very aggressive, especially because humans fed them on occasion and their numbers grew so much that now they come down the hills and mountains, to ravage homes on the hillsides of Tokushima prefecture. Currently in Japan, deforestation is not done to expand farmland. Rather, even farmland that could be used due to population decline is being abandoned. Japan's agriculture is in decline, and wild boars and monkeys are causing damage to abandoned farmlands. They travel through abandoned farmland and descend from the mountains. Depopulated rural areas cannot compete with herds of monkeys. They are steadily expanding their habitat, not only stealing vegetables and fruits from fields, but also encroaching on urban areas. Also, they are protected by law and there is no fear of being killed, and there are no animals that prey on them in Japan. In other words, there has never been a better time for Japanese macaques than now.

The warmest (coldest rather?) welcome to my home country, Danielle! Yes, hot springs are one of the best known tourism attractions in Japan! "Intelligent" "skilful" sounds cute .... Somewhere else, not far away from human residence, such things become troublesome. They watch you in front of a vending machine in ambush. Just after inserting coins, they steal the goods in front of your eyes! Quick learners indeed. I hope Danielle had a great time there with local delicacies! See yea!

When you can’t swim in them it is generally because they’re boiling hot at the source. So you move the water away and it cools down. This isn’t an option in Yellowstone because you know National Park. There’s other places in the States with cooler springs or where they pump them to proper baths. Note Danielle said this monkey spas were a recent thing we built.
