I love these new vids on specific cultivars. I wish you did more like these, detailing each cultivar - showing also the chamges through the seasons :)

This tree is gorgeous in all seasons. The only thing missing is your Blenheim. As soon as I get a few more coral barks, I may want a katsura.

Another great video. Do you use bonsai soil for your trees in the nursery pots?
@MomijiEn2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I usually use a mix of sifted bark and pumice for my trees in the nursery pot.

Nice video. Id like to see some more videos of specific trees . I have a Katsura I'm working on. How come I don't see anyone using variegated or reticulated or both types of japanese maples in bonsai? The leaves on some of them are exotic. Do u know any variegated reticulated types of japanese maples that could be used for bonsai? And if making the leaves smaller can't u just defoiliate to get them smaller?

More videos like this coming soon! That's a good question. I have Ukigumo, Sagara Nishiki, and Geisha Gone Wild and from my experience, they grow very slowly compared to others. It may be one reason. Traditionally, Bonsai people in the past preferred JMs like Deshojo, Seigen, Shishigashira etc and didnt want to use exotic ones for bonsai as they appear too busy or flashy. But I think we should see more of those!

@@MomijiEn that's cool. Thanks for the variety of names I'll have to look for them. I haven't seen any and I think I'm going to add at least one to my collection and see how it works out. They may look flashy but they look really nice! Keep the videos coming I like tree specific facts and pictures of them throughout the year!

do katsura handle full sun ?

Probably full sun to partial shade. However not full sun in CA or TX 😉
