General Kuribayashi was THE goat. If Imperial Japan had more officers like him, the Pacific theatre would've been much more bloody. He made the best out of the worst, and was rewarded by his legacy of being one of the most capable adversary. I couldn't help but respect him.
Reminds me of Letters from Iwo Jima, one of my favorite WW2 movies

English lyric: 1. A lonely island floating on the waves of the Pacific Ocean, about 1,000 kilometers south of the Imperial Capital (Tokyo) Iwo Jima, a key point that will decide the survival or destruction of Japan now 2. Iwo Jima is the last bastion to protect Japan, which is isolated on the front line by an enemy country (U.S.) that has invaded the Mariana Islands and is already approaching Japan 3. Let this island be the graveyard of the insatiable ambition of the vengeful enemy (U.S.). Come on, this island Iwo Jima will not miss a single tree or a single grass, and will discover and disarm the American troops. 4. The samurai gathered were Japan's selected forlorn squad. Vowing to destroy the enemy, he waits for the U.S. military with rigorous training day and night Iwo Jima 5. This defense, comparable to Kusunoki Masashige's deeds at Chihaya Castle * , would not allow a million enemy soldiers to invade the island. Solid and impregnable castle, Iwo Jima 6. As long as we are here, the mainland (Japan) will be safe forever. Japan Iwo Jima, who has the honor of betting on his pride as a boy, overcoming hardships and protecting it. * Kusunoki Masashige's deeds at Chihaya Castle : Kusunoki Masashige is a Japan samurai who is called "Japan's strongest general". He was active in the early 14th century, mainly in the Kansai region of Japan. At that time, Japan was effectively ruled by the Kamakura shogunate, and the original monarch, the emperor, had lost the actual right to rule. Masashige decided to side with the Emperor and overthrow the Shogunate in order to bring Japan back under the Emperor's rule. Upon learning of this, the shogun sent a shogunate army of 300,000 men to Kyoto, where the emperor and Masashige were located. After the Emperor was captured, Masashige decided to build three castles, Upper Akasaka Castle, Lower Akasaka Castle, and Chihaya Castle, on Mt. Kongo in Osaka to meet the Shogunate army. The shogunate army, numbering more than a million people, joined by the soldiers of the daimyo from all over the country, attacked the three castles with its large army. Masashige made full use of fake scarecrows, fire arrows, stone throwing, rock dropping, and provocations to endure for more than three months against the Shogunate army, which is said to be about 2 million according to documents at the time, and finally succeeded in destroying the Kamakura Shogunate. Masashige, who fought and won for more than three months with about 1,000 people against 2 million enemy forces from that time to the present, was praised as "the strongest famous general since the founding of the country", and especially after the Meiji era, he was widely respected by all the people of Japan as "a warrior who was loyal to the emperor" and "a model for the people of Japan". This lyric compares the defense of Iwo Jima and the struggle of the Japan army to Kusunoki Masashige's exploits at Chihaya Castle.

What a masterpiece! Just one little suggestion, could you show the lyricist and composer of the music pieces that you worked on? That would be very helpful.

The small character on the left is Tohoku zunko(とうほく ずんこ), and the one on the right is Tohoku itako(とうほく いたこ). As a side note, these characters were created to support recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake. The surname Tohoku is the name of the area most affected.
