So, I found a nice game/technique for practicing numbers. If you have a commute to work. I've been just looking at plates, signs, and billboards and saying out loud all the numbers I see in Japanese. It's been really fun and I've started to just not even think about it, but immediately know the numbers in Japanese. Plus it's great because the numbers are always random and different.

Although I am getting to a point in the series and book to which i get confused, so I seem to go back to the beginning, rewatching the videos, re-reading the lessons and reinforcing what I do know and understanding what I didn't which then allows me to progress a bit further. Like I say, I have only been doing this for a week, I know 1 - 99, some simple sentences and questions, along side 25 Hiragana. I work alot at the moment due to covid, but all of the spare time I have, i'm throwing at this. Never thought i'd be able to learn anything like this, but I love everything about the culture, and you good sir have made it so much more accessible for people like me.

I know this video is super old now, but I wanted to let you know. My husband and I moved to Japan last year and picked up the first of your books a few months before relocating. We've been using them (and a few other apps and sources) to learn, and I really like the way you explain things. I just found your videos and thought it was super helpful to review what we learned from your books since I took a bit of break from them. (Relocation to another country is very complicated lol). Anyway, I'm back on track and wanted to thank you! So... thank you! Haha! I think what I struggle with most is that I know more Japanese than my husband does, but he has more confidence to use what he knows when we go out in public. Still working on that confidence almost one year into living in Japan, but I know I'll get there with your resources!!!

Learn Japanese From Zero! I have nothing against japanese people obviously but the videos I watched were usually pretty lackluster and I didn't feel I could connect with the material the same way. Hi! So I asked my husband to count to 10 and back. He ended up counting differently but he made a really great point as to why it’s different. He said it could be different because typically when counting down it’s for something like during a celebration so when counting down they don’t use any numbers with negative associations (4 and 7 are changed).

@Gruzbee7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be nervous about it. Just like learning to play notes on an instrument, you can't go from beginner to master without making some wrong squelching sounds. And while I don't subscribe to the whole "weeaboo" thing, I will add that (speaking for myself as an anime fan) were one ONLY learning Japanese for the sake of watching anime or reading manga... then it would be a rather hollow pursuit, and limiting the language of a people and culture to little more than a specific medium.

You don't need to say all the numbers at the same time and for an hour.. Instead of memorise you should try to put it in your brain naturally one by one.. However, if you repeat いち, に, さん, よん, ご spending just 10 minutes in your day you'll be able to remember them.. So start now to repeat it 3,4,5,6 times.. and then you wait for 5 seconds to repeat again, but this time you must to remember them and then you say one by one.. If you're right, you rise the interval and then you wait for 10 seconds.. do the same thing.. later 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes..

Yes, You teach very well. There isn't any problem. Blind people can understand you very well. As I said, you explain everything I mean, when you write in your blackboard, I guess? You say each word out loud. I'm very happy with your channel. The good news, is that being a blind person is an advantage for me. If I learn how to combine the hiraganas, a kanji appears. So I don't need to learn them, because my screen reader recognize them for me. Can you believe it? It is the first time in my whole life that I'm glad to be blind, haha. さようなら先生。

I spent two months in a building that didn't have a fourth (but had a fifth and sixth) floor in Japan :) You're right about this.

Having completed, and listened to the Michel Thomas Advanced Japanese course, ad nauseum, it's fantastic to find another source to help progress my learning. These lessons are great. Thank you.

1 to 5 is really easy for me because I used to read a dystopian novel called Pure (it's the first part of a triology) by Julianna Baggott. In it the female protagonist doesn't remember anything from her childhood except running through the street pointing at poles and saying: itchy knee, sun she go! She later realises that it's 1 to 5 in Japanese and that's a bit of an important part to the story's suspense background thing lol

I speak 2 languages and now I am learning japanese I think based on my experience that is so much better in the beginer level learnf from a non japanese teacher because the teacher can teach from his/her experience, and in advaced levels continue learning with a japanase native teacher.

i should probably jump to book 3 or 4 because i've been learning for a while already but then I'd miss all these little tidbits you throw in! like 4 being unlucky , japanese people counting backwards differently, etc. I love it. keep it up my friend
