Can't believe it has been five years already since you and Kanai sat on that same bench trying the Miyazaki Mango. Still one of my most favorite livestreams. There was another time where you were walking in that exact spot for a livestream when I pointed out your Miyazaki Mango. Those were the days of indoor camping and midnight snacks tasting from Frosty the refrigerator. Wow, time is like a fast moving train sometimes.

Hi John, I guess I'll be late trying one of those peaches. You were eating the fruit with so much pleasure that I had to go buy peaches here in Orlando, Florida. Never as tasty as yours. We arrive in Tokyo on 9/20, by then, I am sure there will be no more peaches. 😢 Anyway, thanks for the information. It is interesting to know how carefully and delicately they take care of their fruits and pack them. No wonder they are so expensive! You also make me laugh because you are like the Hispanics when it comes to saying goodbye 👋 you never want to end😅 We are the same way! When visitors come to our house to visit, at the time of leaving, we begin to say goodbye from the front door, to the garage and then we stand in front of the car, and once they get into the car; we are still talking. It takes forever 😅😅 thanks John I love watching your videos

John I am so thrilled for you showing this episode on Japanese peaches! My mother is originally from Tokyo and married an American when she was 17 and came to the U.S. back in 1953....she is always raving about Japanese peaches and that none here in the U.S. can compare to those in Japan...do you know if there's any way that one can purchases these peaches to be shipped to the U.S.??

i love japan but theres more opportunity in the west. It's less ridged and if you couple hard work and a good idea, you can make it. fame or fortune really is attainable. Not as true in Japan, its clean safe, comfortable but conformity is required. example: Take an average student, who goes to a below-avg university, and comes from a middle class family, the same student in the west relative to japan is more likely to really make it...all while embracing the things that make him different

Packaging is way over the top. I see those lattice things washed up on beaches all over the world. Needs a bio degradable method to pack a peach.
@onlyinjapanGO
@onlyinjapanGO 15 күн бұрын
They weren’t from me on those beaches. Were they from Japan? Supermarkets in this country have receptacles to recycle nearly EVERYTHING, locals use it regularly with packaging - and consumers will not buy damaged peaches 🍑 such packaging is fine as consumers here are much more responsible, just look at the city streets. I think any major US city is 10x worse than Tokyo. It’s just Japanese vs western values. Again, the packaging is recycled ♻️ I think it’s an over reaction.
@BigMachigai
@BigMachigai 15 күн бұрын
I disagree, I think the effort they put into their packaging makes people want to take better care. ♻️ Honestly, I'm from NYC so I laugh out loud at accusing the Japanese of making waste. 😂😂

@@onlyinjapanGOOk. I have to step in here. We, in the USA, really don’t use that type of packaging for our fruits and vegetables. We rarely use them (if even at all.) The packaging must have come from another country, or irresponsible people. When it comes to fruits, we stack them on top of one another in the supermarket. We usually don’t use the excessive packaging for fruits and vegetables.

I bought some Japanese peaches the other day. Way overpriced, looked nice, tasted like garbage. So much better in Greece for a better price.
@onlyinjapanGO
@onlyinjapanGO 15 күн бұрын
Where’d you buy it? Seems like a tourist trap. I ate 54 peaches in 2004, a personal record. Zero tasted bad. Saying it tasted like garbage is really low class. Love Greece and Greek food - I’d never say something so vile as that even though I’ve had many questionable experiences there. I also ate the peaches, not nearly as sweet nor as big. Sometimes you have to wait until they ripen esp is you don’t pay much for it.

Japan, the only country in the world to have that much wasteful packaging for one fruit
@onlyinjapanGO
@onlyinjapanGO 15 күн бұрын
If it’s not packages right and is bruised, it gets wasted. The plastic and the styrofoam is recycled at the supermarket, not “wasted”. Japanese consumers are the pickiest which is why the food is also so good! Keep that in mind.
@CaptainCommandoNZ
@CaptainCommandoNZ 15 күн бұрын
@onlyinjapanGO it's a different mindset, picking up fruit without any kind of packaging has to be better. I get the bruised reason. I live in New Zealand, we are trying to do less packaging full stop. It reminded me of special Japanese biscuits that are individually wrapped in plastic. I hope it's all recycled. A lot of the time, packaging is aimed more at marketing than practicality.
