Lauren is a gifted 23 year old female who completed A levels at St Marks High School in Eswatini. She and I were both classmates. We had the best of times together. She is incredibly smart and she was always at the top or amongst of our class in A level. She has a talent and passion for mathematics and chemistry. I remember how she used to patiently explain concepts when some of us did not understand a particular topic. She was a true gem in our A level class. It pains me that after 4 years of completing she has not progressed with her education like all of us did. Some of us have completed undergraduate studies and she hasn’t even set foot in university. Lauren wants to become a doctor, specifically a paediatrician. In all these years, I have remained in touch with her, motivating her, finding out how she’s progressed or the steps she has taken towards her education. The point it has reached breaks my heart. A lot of things financially have restrained her from progressing with her education and making something out of herself. Our class was the last normal batch before covid hit us. Covid 19 was cruel to a lot of us, we are making it out but she is still stuck. She has made uncountable efforts, applying for numerous scholarships to no success. What makes it more difficult is that she does not qualify for Swazi scholarship. She was born and raised in Eswatini (Swaziland) but her nationality is Ghanaian. For that reason, Lauren has applied to universities in Ghana and she intends to apply for scholarships and bursaries to cover her tuition fees once she’s eligible. But right now, I understand admissions in Ghana are about to be rolled out, and a lot of processes like interviews require her to be in Ghana in person. Lauren has done all in her capacity, I truly believe that but she needs financial help right now. I'm appealing to anyone who comes across this, please may you help us raise money for an air ticket for Lauren to get to Ghana. Really, she is in a desperate situation and any contributions are welcome. Let us help a sister and friend reach her goal like us. please support this gofund.me/5ee55d67
