No, this video is unfair. This interview only interviewed people who did not watch animation. I also have to interview Japanese animation lovers. But I want you to remember it. Japanese citizens usually react in this way. So it is better to hide in Japan normally. This movie shows the reason. The Japanese is also negative to the Japanese otaku. There are many weeaboo events in Japan. I am pleased if you enjoy it there.

Are you angry because he made that rant about weaboos, and you somehow took offense since you might be a weeb too ? Seriously, how triggered are you? I'm seeing you everywhere in this comment section. If you're triggered get over it already. If you watched the whole video, he says that he doesn't care or judge those 32 year olds virgins obsessed with anime, as long as they keep that weaboo shit away from him. Also, he made that video like 3 years ago and quit youtube for his music career. So just rub some benghazi cream on your butt and chill already, kiddo.
@jason24336 жыл бұрын
robokou Who exactly was Frank "bullying," you half Witt? It was a rant to people who think they are Japanese for watching anime. We aren't "riding dicks," we just agree with him since there are weebs out there that act and think like that. I don't know how it makes Frank and us Bigoted. I care because you're spreading hate allover the comment section like a little triggered 12 year old that can't let go. Lmao! Once again, I only agree with Frank because it's true and this shit happens IRL ,although, I don't see as a big problem . And Frank wasn't just talking about weebs, he was talking about anyone who has a weird obsession over something. You should have watched the whole video instead of getting triggered, breathing hard, and typing really fast on your keyboard. And as a sage once said: "it's pointless to argue with obnoxious fucks who can't use their brain to think and understand the situation properly." Anyway, if you're just gonna call me a "fagot" Dick rider" instead of making an understandable argument, then don't bother replying back.

I think showing a video like this to the average japanese person who (sadly, but it's true) can't really understand complex english sentences like Papa Franku uses in these videos is pointless. It's like showing your average weeaboo some japanese comedian who uses more than just the basic phrases. He / she just won't get the point.
@Katziezi8 жыл бұрын
Verty Oh, didn't notice that. Still, they most likely have no clue about western internet memes and many terms can't be accurately translated, so it's still not easy for them to get the whole point, I think no one got the point of the video actually.
@Katziezi8 жыл бұрын
Verty Yeah. That's what I meant. It's basically just getting them the same reaction over and over again. There was only one guy who had a basic clue about what a "weeaboo" was and he also said that he thinks they're disgusting, which is the only honest, not that tolerant opinion I've heard yet. I think reactions like this are way more interesting because they let you really understand people. It's boring to watch them talk if they don't express theirselves you know. But especially in japanese culture, where people are more reserved than in other countries and are scared of "losing their face" won't openly talk about this in public. This dude had some balls for voicing his true opinion, kudos to him for that seriously.
@Katziezi8 жыл бұрын
+Verty This channel is basically "watch disinterested japanese declaring their public opinion over something while being nervous saying something wrong + being slightly confused" No hate though, I really like Yuta as a person, he seems nice and opposing to most other people has the balls to go out and do such a thing and record it + upload it with high quality which is, even though given how biased the opinions are, entertaining me and many others. I enjoy these videos in general, but I think there is no point if the interviewed subjects don't have a clue at all about what they are seeing. The only thing interesting about that is seeing them struggle to guess what the stuff they're watching is about. So a general advice to everyone, if you really want a japanese guys/girls opinion, be friends with one and ask them personally after getting to know them. That way you'll get a way more accurate answer. That works especially great over the internet, as you don't even need to go outside to find people there + thanks to the anonymity of the internet, they'll actually say what they think most of the times.

also there would be a cultural barrier, westerners often make fun of anime viewers or weaboos but from what I can gather from these interviews, the Japanese have no problem with otakus or weaboos outside of Japan because they're honoured to have foreigners interested in their country. weaboo is not even a word they understand so I doubt they understood 100% what was happening.
@yllowturtl8 жыл бұрын
I've seen that a lot of Gaijin say that most Japanese people don't get this kind of humour based on irony and sarcasm.
@stvltiloqvent8 жыл бұрын
there is definitely a cultural barrier. aside from the fact that otaku culture is more widespread in Japan, weaboos/otakus also have different implications OUTSIDE of Japan, especially those in Western countries. when a native Japanese person becomes an otaku, they have an obsession about an aspect of their own culture. that's fine. but when a foreigner becomes an otaku, they obsess over a small aspect of a culture that they're not familiar with to begin with. and so a white American otaku, for example, is much more prone to stereotyping the _entirety_ of Japanese culture based off of anime alone. native Japanese otakus don't have that problem because they're part of the Japanese society, and they already know Japanese culture in its complexity. this is where otaku's become 'weaboo's in the Western cultural sphere. foreign otaku's that take it to a whole 'nother level may start projecting all sorts of exaggerated or simply unreal stereotypes onto Japan's entire _nation_ - sometimes to the point of being orientalist (in the way they fetishise aspects of the Other). that's basically racism, whether intended or not. this is why other Westerners would take issue with a 'weaboo'. so based on that racialised aspect alone, it's already harder for say, a Japanese person that's never lived abroad, to grasp the taboo'ness of weaboos -hah that rhymed- and then, yeah, there's also that thing where irony/satire is really uncommon in Japanese media.

He has expressed that he watches/watched anime and obviously has an interest in Japanese culture, as he is haafu. He does a lot self-satire as well as parodying the extreme cases of what he is covering in his videos.. If he weren't involved in any way in the otaku culture he would not be able to give such an objective yet personal account/perspective of/on the oddities of it. From the perspective of a native Japanese person viewing his self-satire and parody of the American otaku culture it would give a "holier than thou" impression. Since he obviously knows enough about the subculture to critique it and express his grievances on the people in said culture. They also mentioned his intelligence and self awareness of his parody and self-satire. I also believe that he is intelligent (like some mentioned in the video) and he knows it well and unlike the typical "holier than thou" he is aware of the opinions of others on that type of statement being made coming from the type of person he is. That's why I like some of his videos. It's not the slap stick that entertains me.. It's the level awareness and presence of self as well as others in creating the content that he does that amuses me.

Nope. Otaku roughly translates to Nerd or Geek, but the social stigma against them is far greater than in the States. @gerijokub77376 жыл бұрын
Rayan Zahrani, It doesn't matter if they are judgmental underneath or not, because in the end they are taught to respect others despite speaking their own true sentiments. I love how people jump on the japanese for not showing their honesty, but in reality, the whole principle of being "respectful" and "non-conflicting" is based on a superficial thinking that you must maintain harmony in order to have a peaceful environment, and this not unique just in Japan either, it's just that Japan has been the most discussed country regarding this concept. Another great example is Germany, same as japanese, they are also taught to respect others, to feel guilt over their history etc but in reality they're just as brainwashed as any other nation on this planet. Try asking any german person what he thinks about the current refugee situation in Germany, and he'll tell you it's perfectly ok, despite feeling disgust and deep down hatred. It seems like people forget how "adequacy" originates.

"casually savage" I'd love to add that word to urban dictionary.

lol... sounds like not being savage with the intention of being savage, but being so sincere and straight that it becomes naturally savage

I don't know if they really understood the humor with the subtitles. Filthy Frank is famous because of his very dark and bizarre sense of humor, and a lot of that probably gets lost in translation.

I think what he is trying to say is that frank is acusing weeaboos of thinking they know japanese when they don't, but by doing that he is actually generalizing otakus and insulting them without really knowing about otakus so basically filthy Frank is being hypocrite. It's a pretty intelligent answer, I'm very surprised
@ironzur20827 жыл бұрын
Its not like otakus/weeaboos should be victimized here. Being one isnt something worth be proud of since these are terms for unhealthy interest in certain well-known sphere of arts.

Could be. Or it could be a culture barrier, just like how sometimes we don't understand their humor, they might not understand ours

+Richard Rodriguez right. like that comedy video of people in blackface and tracksuits threatening each other with spears.

There's also the chance that they're trying to not be rude. Japanese culture is big on respect, so they may have been anxious about asking if he wasn't being serious.

hazyveins often wonder how they've changed in 80 years, if at all. Did a nuke really beat that ass into meekness? I mean, it SHOULD, but jeez.

Well then, I guess a bunch of Japanese citizens have also now seen my photo as a result of my photo being in that particular Filthy Frank video. I didn't realize there were quite so many people that have seen that rather unflattering photo of me.
