Why hasn't anyone considered an anchored floating platform. We can make ships that are 1000's if not millions of tones in weight so why not a platform.
@davearnold1883
@davearnold1883 16 сағат бұрын
that is absolutely a brilliant idea and I think there is great potential that that could work. just think about oil rigs way out in the ocean. all of those are floating and anchored to the bottom. you could use the same technique and or not have the platform work in high winds and when there's storms

@davearnold1883 I'm not sure what oil platforms use to keep buoyancy but if it's air chambers then I don't think that's good enough for long term stability. I'd suggest 'something like' expanding foam chambers which will not fail if they are punctured.

It's more or less a good idea, but if you think about it, most ships only have a life span of around 30-50 years because of the salt water itself. Therefore, it's better to fight natural elements with other natural elements. Steel is not a natural element, so its struggles against salt water, so the idea was most likely thought about, but it's not reliable for long term use

This is why when when you’re undertaking massive civil engineering projects, you overbuild by a factor of at least 10. And don’t give me any BS about funding. Huge projects have massive overruns and the only way you are ever going to be able to stay relevant at 5 to 10 years after end of the project is to massively overbuild. If something is going to take 10 years to build, then you need to look 100 years in the future and plan for that.

@23:00 At least the Japanese government is looking after its people, as they provide emergency rations and equipment for them in case of a catastrophe. This doesn´t hold true for other highly developed countries, as e.g. in Central Europe.

And then there's over here in America, where we have an orange shitgibbon rampaging, costing us a fortune, while embarrassing us who did not vote for it. He is trying to halt all social programs. We are going in reverse. I admire Japan for stepping up for disaster prep.

Wasting resources to build an airport in the ocean? What could possibly go wrong? lol If they had paid citizens to vacate space, and create the airport where airports should be, ON LAND, wouldn't it be cheaper, much much cheaper?

I hate your incomplete titles. "Middle of the ocean" Is a lie. "Manipulated" image shaking, especially during the flyover, during the earthquake discussion, is embarrassing. Although I generally enjoy the content, the above complaints are making it increasingly unlikely that I look inside.
