Can confirm I passed N2 recently with a fairly high mark and my speaking isn't half good as hers. I tend to use a lot of 文語(mainly 漢語) in my conversation and most of the Japanese people I talk to will be like, "huh?" A friend of mine just passed N1 and his oral skill is even worse than mine. We both studied for only 8 months. We also speak Chinese so those 漢字 are very natural to us. We can even guess most of them correctly without knowing how to pronounce them.

In short what I remember her saying to make your life easier- if you’re going to study more than one language at a time, then it’s best for them to be different from each other, not from the same family. Korean & Japanese would be confusing learning at the same time. But please look for Lindie’s video, she states it better than I would.

I understood everything. >.< makes me happy. I always have this problem with learning for JLPT tests and that is that I don't know which level I am at. I know grammar and vocab from N1 but some vocab from N5 or N4 I don't know. Which causes me to miss out on things if I study with higher level books, and makes me waste a lot of time if I study from lower level books..... I can't really find my way of studying which also makes me less motivated to start studying, and I don't know where I can start, especially with grammar.

Hi.. how did you study and where, if I might ask? It maybe bad of me to assume, but I think you’re Dutch? I had some classes at the Volksuniversteit, but it’s not enough to become fluent. I have trouble memorising and I’m annoyed that I’m not fluent yet, but when I watch anime ( or something else in Japanese) I noticed I’m understanding more and more. Which makes me happy 😊
@yowo6105
@yowo6105 5 жыл бұрын
@@Dee8Bee Hii! Yes I'm Dutch. I haven't been to Japanese classes before, and I don't think I ever will either because I'm working at a pretty.... Ehm unique I should say.... pace. But I'll come back to that later though.. The last couple of years I only studied through anime, Japanese KZbinrs and a bit of grammar form Tae Kim. However I have to say that I have a natural talent for learning languages, especially through listening. I'll have to hear a word twice in a context and I know it. (Just input not output, my speaking and writing ability is very bad). But a few months earlier I've discovered some methods that work for me: keep watching anime, after a while you'll indeed notice you won't have to pay that much attention anymore to subtitles which is an amazing feeling. I would also recommend watching some anime without any at all (this is how I learned English when I was 10/11). RTK (remembering the kanji) is an amazing book for kanji in combination with KanjiKoohii. But recently I've been slacking off and letting flashcards pile up (not good, I'm at 400 unreviewed cards now). RTK is really a method for people with discipline. Same goes for Anki. I've used it for a few months but then the so called "Anki Avalanche" comes looking around the corner. I simply do not have the self-control to keep reviewing cards... There's also a website called Renshuu that I've been using for a while now, but it has yet to come into my system. Every day they'll give you words, kanji and grammar to review. The one thing I would recommend the most is the Japanese School Amino. They offer free classes (yes I do attend them). Lots of fun challenges. Cultural clubs (literature club, history club, cooking club, art club etc) which also organize challenges. They're also setting up a social studies club right now. If you want to be a bit more engaged in the community you can become for example a beginner class assistent teacher. The classes have assignments and exams and also the atmosphere is super casual and fun. You can ask anything from the teachers. I'm currently in Intermediate II and will graduate after I've succeeded my exam. Then I'll go to advanced class. :) I hope this has helped a bit haha. This was a damn long comment I hope your device won't crash.

@@crypoem so when i started learning English I often just talked to myself in English and tried to practice that way. it would be more optimal to talk to a native speaker but it's better than not speaking at all. :)

Hi. Lindie! I hope you do your best today for the exam. My English isn't that great but I put some Korean subtitle yesterday. As I translated from English to Korean because I don't know Japanese, the translated Koreans can be slightly different from what actually Lindie is saying. However, I hope this could help for other people! See you around, Lindie! 😊

Hello, do you have any tips on where to focus for Japanese study. I been learning on and off throughout the years but this past year 2019 and now 2020 I really want to tackle the language! So far I have been learning with Mongo languages, and Dulingo. Tho recently I have bought the Genki elementary text books Vr2. I'm still struggling a bit with Hiragana. I haven't started Katakana yet, and I know very little kanji. Any tips on how I could improve with them? I know this is a bit advanced but how did you learn to speak so fluently. I don't have many people to practice with since I live in Canada. How did you over come your fear of speaking out loud.

I have been living, working and studying here in Japan for 10 years now and can confirm that the book Lindie is using is THE BEST. I used this book extensively while studying for the N1. Although, I did not thoroughly go through each section and take notes like Lindie... wish I would have! @Lindie, I am now studying Korean. Do you recommend any book series that are very similar to this 新にほんご500問 series but for Korean? I am also a big fan of the 新完全マスター series for 文法 and am convinced the N3 version of this book is what got me conversationally fluent in Japanese (before I even came to Japan!). Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
