I do just wanna point out, that canonically Raiden is entirely self trained, he was a child soldier in Africa who just ran around cutting people with a machete, and then when he grew up he learned his new style entirely through movies, so at least in Ripper mode when he does the big wild slashes with his whole body, it's kind of explained by that, he reverting somewhat to the style he used as a child.

Well, they are aware of the mechanics I think. Even just noting that these are Cyborg muscles basically makes the point of having to generate force irrelevant, as even a lazy swing from a Cyborg would be way more powerful than a perfectly stanced cut from a human. But the whole point of this is to learn about how close the moves are to real swordfighting techniques, so it's not that they don't acknowledge it makes sense in universe. You wouldn't learn anything if they handwaved it rather than talking about how such a maneuver would look like in the real world with real swords.

Yes and no. They might not be evil per se, but they are still in cahoots with the bad guys.. Killing them, as evil as it may sound, was a necessary step forward. They made their choice out of desperation and pressure, but in doing so they supported the plans of their superiors and Raiden needed to cut ‘em down for it. The point is that they didn’t really have the freedom to choose as we initially thought but their only choice automatically challenged Jack’s.

@marzipancutter8144 2 жыл бұрын
@@pacifistminigun3987 I think the point was, maybe he shouldn't have went on a rampage straight through Denver in the first place, killing all the local law enforcement he meets? The only justification was that the company they work for has ties to another company that happens to be running illegal operations, but they aren't even necessarily directly involved with that. That's like killing local police because you don't agree that the state is sending troops into another country, the police has little to do with it. Their worst crime in this case was being absolute jackasses, but it's hard to argue seeing how much their brain is basically remote controlled. Anyway the point of the scene is it doesn't matter. By admitting that he doesn't really care how guilty they are because it's fun to cut them up, Raiden effectively sidestepped the issue entirely. Thus, all contradictions in his ideals become irrelevant because he's basically saying "I do whatever I want, fuck you".

@Ai7A IRAl Hey man..... Did I ask?
@LVL5esper
@LVL5esper 3 жыл бұрын
@AiSEL IRAl I honestly agree with your aggressive criticisms for their vid. I dont think trying to gauge realism in a game that is anything BUT works in this channel's benefit. Sam was definitely the closest to real life usage of sword techniques. Everything Raiden does for the most part is a fantastical display of "what if" humans are no longer physically constrained. They didnt even grasp the idea behind why Raiden used his heels and legs to swing his sword around, which is basically because the human leg can generate so much more force than the arms. Like come on, the 2 are trained professionals in their respective combat profession and they didnt think of that reasoning on the spot, and instead just basically called it flashy ninja-esque moves in a game. Is it possible in real life? Most likely not and even if one were to try it, they'd need a short blade like a knife installed into their footwear similar to the bladed sandals etc in martial arts movies featuring assasins of some sort. Even then, doing it the why Raiden did is an impossible human feat, theres no comparisons the 2 could have made. Then the whole mincing of the enemies, looks like the guy who played the game forgot the player can actually just perform 1 single precise slash and take out the spinal batteries. The excessive mincing is just there for the players to let out some steam and have fun. I honestly think, this type of video topic can be so much more fun if the 2 combat professionals went in knowing what the game is about and separate reality from fantasy. Like talk about the moveset's inspiration and how it was changed with the added fantastical element. Like Sam's quick draw. It was cool as hell how he pulled the trigger and used the added momentum of the blade, being shot out of the sheath, to quickly slice off Raiden's arm. Thats the real quick draw technique, enhanced with fantastical element. Its also one of the more grounded fantasy elements too which makes one think something like that CAN actually be possible in reality if human constraints were just a tad bit lowered.

To be fair, the reason raiden doesn't need to generate much force when swinging his blade is because its a vibro sword and it can basically cut through anything. Death Battle did Raiden vs Wolverine and found out that his blade can basically cut through adamantium, human cyborgs are nothing compared to that.

@user-uv5ld3cx5t
@user-uv5ld3cx5t Жыл бұрын
This is honestly one of the things I did not quite understand why is it a legitimate dilemna. Does Raiden enjoy killing things? As admitted by himself, yes, even if he tried not to think about that. But was Raiden doing the correct thing? Also affirmative. By construction of MGRR's over the top and intentionally laughably evil plot behind the bad guys, there is no situation where Raiden could be seen as the bigger wrongdoer in his actions if not being the only realistic solution (as "realistic" as MGRR's world build is), compared to the actions of Desperado and Armstrong where they abduct and murder children to train as murderous cyborgs, as well as literal false flag operation to start a war with an unfriendly country for the sake of the economy or whatever batshit insane ideology the senator had. Ultimately, Raiden's actions might not be completely altruistic (which he could have just gotten away clean by insisting his "keep one sword drawn to keep the other in the shealth" ideology - "you hired those guys to do your evil deeds, and I don't kill them because it's funny instead of preventing a larger tragedy" - which would invalidate Monsoon along with the entire dilemna in the first place), but when there could not have been a way out into solving the forseeable tragedy bestowed upon everyone involved, Raiden is definitely in the "good" side of the matter and it's not possible to judge it as otherwise.

I noticed that too, how his sword can cut through things much thicker then the length of the blades.
