The "Reverse Impact" is actually a very iconic move called "無明逆流れ", and it was originally coming from a classic samurai comic "Shigurui". the reason why they add it into the game is more like a nostalgia purpose. the attack may look no sens or funny if you only see people who imitate it in real life, "But believe me, the story behind this is not even fun at all."
@BrilliantSunsGaming3 жыл бұрын
You did a fantastic job replicating the moveset from one of my favorite games of all time. I think the moveset was designed to be a little more 'over the top' to make the game enjoyable, but maintained some elements of realism. Very nice performance congratulations!! :) Regarding Severing Spin, the technique used to spin the sword is inspired by Wakayama Tomisaburo's technique, he played in a popular tv show of the 1970s called "Oshi Samurai" where he often used this technique for noto, though he is more famous for Kozure Okami. He is the brother of the famous actor Shintaro Katsu (original Zatoichi main actor ) and studied the sword. All the best.

I will say at least the *idea* behind Reverse Impact has merit: it's like flicking a finger by holding it back for a moment. You apply pressure behind the object meant to be in motion, so once you release the block, that pressure flings the object forward suddenly and fiercely. I don't think it works in a combat scenario, but it looks cool and has a sort of improvised Jackie Chan-esque action feel.
@oliverrowland27252 жыл бұрын
Not sure if anyone would've mentioned any of this but here's my thoughts for some of nioh's skills Reverse impact - reason for sword in the ground and pulled out, in a fantasy setting, could be useful in a sandy or dusty terrain to impede vision. Fantasy allows the suspension of disbelief or a legit explanation. Severing spin - the reason for the sword being pulled out after is more so game mechanics in returning to an idle position with the weapon. Sacred bird cry - the Sohayamaru resemble the seven branched sword, the dagger on the back is that sword after the blade is shattered. Through game events it's restored somewhat but is still sheathed as a dagger which is why it appears to materialise from nowhere.

06:54 There may not be any practical use for Reverse Impact, but a situational use of it is that if you’re fighting on a place with very loose ground, like a gravel path or a sandy beach, the slash will throw stuff at your enemy that could blind or at least disorient them. Of course, if you’re willing to fight that dirty, you might as well just kick the sand at them instead.

The Reverse Impact move is certainly exaggerated due to it being a move in a game, but I think the idea with the sword in the ground thing was to actually throw dirt up with your sword towards the enemy to make an opening.

(about reverse impact) while obviously just a flashy move for the sake of flash (as with spinning moves) I always felt that doing this kinda forces you to put more strength to the attack.
