I've seen a few of the videos and your channel and I must say, I really like the vibe in your videos. Pleasant, calming, and easy-to-watch. I myself am not a big fan of nasi kerabu, so I'd always pick nasi lemak or nasi ayam when it's an option over nasi kerabu for meals. That said, if I do eat nasi kerabu I normally would request the sambal to be put in a separate container, or put aside so I can control how much of it is mixed in my rice. Hope to see more of your adventure trying new things in Malaysia 😎

Speaking Malay to Kelantanese people is a gamble even if you speak good Malay. They might reply in their dialect & could cause confusion for people not familiar with the Kelantanese Malay 😄 You can actually ask for extra extra gravy for the Ayam Percik 🤤

Hi! That fluffy stuff is toasted coconut. The fishy taste probably comes from a type of fish sauce called 'budu' which is commonly eaten in the east coast of Malaysia and an important ingredient in Nasi Kerabu , By the way, when people say 'east Malaysia' it usually refers to the states of Sabah and Sarawak in Borneo island. We normally refer to the states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang as east coast of Malaysia 😊 Another side dish that is commonly eaten with Nasi Kerabu is Solok Lada which is stuffed chilli that you can see at 3:52 . I love that stuff! Ichi-kun is so cute! Sorry for writing so much. I love your videos.

Yes the blue coloured food looks intimidating but not so much in Malaysia because we got lots of different coloured dish with natural ingredient to make the colour. However, that nasi kerabu colour looks artificial colouring because its bright blue, butterfly pea flower rice looks darker blue. You can judge the colour because you are familiar with pandan green, how it looks like in food compared to artificial green coloured food. Yes nasi kerabu original butterfly pea blue colour should have the 'same depth' as pandan colour. Next try other coloured rice dish like kuning/yellow (nasi ayam, nasi minyak, pulut kuning), merah/red (nasi tomato) and many other color including rainbow coloured of nasi hujan panas. Hujan panas means rain in a hot day, that will create a rainbow.
@OvDevilz
@OvDevilz Жыл бұрын
Also that chicken is Ayam Percik, speciality dish from Kelantan state. You can get it at most Pasar Malam but not all Pasar Malam have it. You can find local stalls open only in the morning at the roadside or sidewalks that sells breakfast only and if you can find East Coast stalls, mostly they will have Ayam Percik, Nasi Kerabu or Nasi Dagang.

BRIGHT blue colour is scary & poisonous looking !!!! Obviously lots of artificial food colouring used. NOT the natural blue colour from blue butterfly pea flower. Upon seeing such bright blue colour, it is best to NOT order & eat such coloured steamed rice.

Actually there is no coriander in nasi kerabu. Never encounter coriander in nasi kerabu. But the leaf they use is Vietnamese mint/laksa leaf. Malay call it daun kesum. Other vegetables they put is cabbage, beansprout, long beans, lemongrass, might also have ginger torch/bunga kantan.

If the rice is bright blue, I think most likely it's from food colouring. If using butterfly pea flower to get the blue colour, which is used by traditional nasi kerabu, the blue is not as brightly coloured. This is disappointing because it seems they have taken a short cut to make the rice.
