It's not Dragon Ball Z, I mean they both exist the first was Dragon Ball, we had that as well. Dragon Ball Z was like the new season, but there are many Dragon Ball shows (Z, GT, Z Kai, Super and so on) the first animation was Dragon Ball (1986-1989) all over the world, and the continuation of the show was Dragon ball Z (1989-1996). I think the girl just never saw the entire story or did not pay attention to the name of the new seasons.

@ Interesting, some of the characters' names are almost literal translations. I'm pretty sure hikari means light, which also works as dawn, and haruka/haruko is springtime, i.e. May.

51:04 I call him Mugiwara no Luffy Mostly because I watch the subbed version, and I just constantly hear them yell at him when they're mad. They often only call him Mugiwara. Translation is Straw Hat Luffy 🤠 51:25 ah here it is 😅

I hope you guys dont bring in the American girl again for the anime videos. It's so clear that she just really barely knows what she's talking about. Maybe she does watch a few episodes of anime here and there, but she genuinely gives off the vibe of someone who likes anime in the sense that they absorb information about it online and maybe likes the aesthetic, but doesn't actually consume it that much. Not trying to gatekeep, people should be able to enjoy media casually too. It's just really frustrating to see someone act so excited about a subject they know nothing about for a video where that subject is the entire topic.

Yeah Dragon Ball z is often more light-hearted and is focused on Goku's childhood, interactions, and the world tournament. While Dragon Ball Z Goku is an adult and has children and it has more complex story arcs and power scaling. But it's all part of the same continuous story.

She probably just wasn't a fan of it or didn't watch that channel my brothers and I only watched it because we had one TV channel when I was a kid that had cartoons. Most people just remember hearing the intro I believe "Digimon the digital monsters"

Dragon Ball Z is just 2nd series of Dragon Ball. There are 3 series of Dragon Ball: 1) Dragon Ball, 2) Dragon Ball Z, 3) Dragon Ball GT. (Technically there is 4th newer series but OG viewers would usually not count that). Dragon Ball is where Goku was small and grew up, by the end of Dragon Ball he was adult. Dragon Ball is also the best in terms of plot and the most fun to watch. Dragon Ball Z is famous for way too long fights (Frazer fight was about 80-90 episodes... because the manga was not written yet or something) and it had poor plot. DBGT again had a bit better plot. DBZ is the most known because it was in Europe in TV for a very long time, everyone in Poland watched it if they were born in 1990-1995. We also had cards with dragon ball characters, kids played balls to win them from other kids. That anime is quite a big part of childhood for many people here in Poland, even if it's objectively the worst of all 3. Interesting fact: in Poland we have 2 types of "translations". One is dubbing so each character has its own voice. Another one we call "lektor" and it's just one voice, the same guy (or woman) for every character. Polish Dragon Ball was very weird. We took French dubbing version... and put polish male "lektor" on top of that. So we could hear that man saying all dialogues in polish, while in the background the characters had their own voices in french. xD Like a guy says "magiczna chmurka" and you hear "nuage magique" in the background. Another interesting fact is that people in Poland called main character "Songo" and we used to think that it's his name (except people who read manga of course). :D
