Honestly it brings a tear to my eye seeing the level of craftsmanship and pride in their work. The passion, the care, and the love they have for what they produce is just incredible.
US school cafeterias shaking in their boots as they open their 23th can of canned food to feed students

Ah yes. The inevitable 'America sucks' comment. Please tell that to the millions trying to crash their southern border. Maybe they'll go home.

I wish they served these meals when I was going to school in the US lol looks healthier and delicious.

Bro I wish they were scratch cooking out of cans, it’s all glorified microwave meals here (and quite terrible ones at that)

I went to a private religious college back in the early 1980's. The main cafeteria was not renowned for its food quality and we always suspected the food manager of stealing from the food budget. I got my best meals in the snack bar in the basement of the main commons building since they had a grill and their hash browns were a bit greasy but tasty! This video shows that university food can be great. Excellent video!
Google says tuition at this university is around 500000 yen, or around $3,400.00 yearly. My university in the good ole USA cost about 3 times as much if you are a state resident, or about 12 times as much if you are out of state. My cafeteria served almost exclusively prepackaged pizza, chicken nuggets, and french fries. Where's all that money going!?
I rmb visiting my JP uni canteen at 6 pm and they gave us leftover foods for free on top if the food we ordered. Ended up unable to walk back home for being too full. They are just that good.

I wonder what the costs/financials are of this.... what does it cost the students and is it subsidised? Great video... thanks!

This is my alma mater and the menu is very cheap. The set menu is about $5.

I went to uni here in Japan. its like 3$ at todays rate. But portions were relatively small, and I eat a lot so I always ordered 2 menus lol, but it still just ended up being like 5-6$
That looks better than my high school was. I’m 24 years old. I graduated high school in 19 before the dark times happened

Totally agree with what was said about British food. Never been to Japan but I watch a lot of the kind on content this channel covers. The amount of effort and care taken by the folk who make the food in Japan, literally isn't available here in the UK, regardless of price, and what is available here is very over priced. For instance the place that does the best Chicken Katsu Curry here in Glasgow charges ¥2500, plus delivery, and you need to order at least £15 to get delivery makes it closer to ¥3800!!!

When I think of how little care goes into feeding children of any age in schools in the US, it disgusts me. This is the proper ethos. Japan understands food.

This is a very expensive university not grade school ffs.
@cleekmaker007 ай бұрын
@@haitolawrence5986 What difference does that make? The Japanese know how to feed their school age kids, whether it's Primary, Secondary or University studies. The OP is right; they understand Food and its benefit both physically and mentally.

@haitolawrence5986 there's a video this channel uploaded of grade school meals and they blow anything US grade schools have out of the water.

Yes, I've seen that...as well as videos of the kids doing the cooking. So inspiring and makes so much more sense than the mindless way it is done in the US@@88amona

If you know how to cook then you know how it taste. Especially condements basic at home, but you can emphasis its difference..... Thus used at home and those used by professionals.
Japanese Cafeteria - we want to make the students happy! American Cafeteria - I’m just here for a paycheck and we had to cut back so the school board could get a bonus this month. Now eat your slop while we throw the rest out instead of giving it to the students who can’t afford a school lunch.
