Thank you for making this video! I have always wondered how granite lanterns, etc. were carved. Seeing the time and skill required to make one, I can now understand why they are not inexpensive.

My favorite garden stone is granite! I just adore granite water catch bowls. Very expensive but just wonderful rock.

That stone carver really needs to wear protective goggles to prevent eye damage from all the flying rock chips. It only takes one chip to damage your eye for good and I would hate to see such a wonderful craftsman lose his eye in a preventable accident.

That was really cool to watch! I've wanted to learn how to do this! Do you know if there is anyone who would teach people how to do it! I have been a stone mason for 18 years, so I already have some of the skills required. I would love to make statues like the ones at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji in Kyoto! I live in Canada, but visit Japan fairly often because my wife is Japanese, and I used to live in Sendai for 3 years. Let me know if you know anybody who teaches. Thanks, loved your video!

@@JapaneseGardenTV I'm so happy!😊 Not sure when I'm coming because if this Covid 19 thing. The next time I visit Japan, I want to come during the fall colors, so realistically, the earliest I would be coming is in November 2022 or 2023. Where does that craftsman live?

You can have a look at my work on my channel, I do lots of timelapses at work. Also, have a look at the first two videos I uploaded to my channel, it's the work I did in my garden during the first Covid 19 lockdown. I build a rock wall and a water harp! Thanks again, always look forward to your videos!

Nice! But I thought bonsai pots needed more holes than one. For the drainage and for the wiring.
