Truly amazing craftsmen and women. I really appreciate the skill and dedication to keeping tradition alive. These people are part artist as well. It is sad that our youth, for the most part, are not following the path of the elders and have not the desire to pass on the old ways. Just viewing this video is a great documentation and way to preserve the old ways. You can really sense the pride and even a part of the makers soul is instilled in their individual craft. Thank you for sharing these masters.

Excellent camera work. Thank you for capturing their experience. At the Miwa Go board dhop, I noticed the kiridashi being used to carefully carve the details in the legs and remove machine marks. I was amazed at the delicate work. It is weighted to be very controllable in the hands.

"Thank you so much for your kind words about the camera work! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the detailed craftsmanship at the Miwa Kibanten shop. The kiridashi is indeed a remarkable tool-it allows for incredible precision and control, making it perfect for delicate work like carving the legs and refining the details. We’re glad this part of the process resonated with you!"

Мне кажется изготовление свечей таким трудоемким способом и устаревшее и бессмысленное. Наносить воск , сушить воск а потом счищать воск и так бесконечно. Это не просто свечи для освещения дома когда отключат свет? Они какие-то особенные?
