Thanks for this post. I am currently so busy that I have had to take a bit of a break from hard core studying Japanese to study for the LSAT and work 40 hours a week. This is really makes me less stressed about "maintaining" it.

I completely agree that learning 1 language at a time is the best. It's too difficult when your mind is jumbled. Students here in Catalonia, Spain learn Catalan, Spanish and English in school! I have no idea how they do it, but I would never choose to do that! Thanks for the video!

Spanish from Scratch In ESO we also can choose between French and German (if you want to). I don't find that hard to be learning Spanish, catalán and English at the same time, you just get used to listen everyone talking Spanish and Catalan so you find it as using 1 language (eventhough we still make some mistakes, by the use of both languages, that we shouldn't be doing).

I honestly haven't tried learning another language besides Spanish, so I can't speak from experience. As far as understanding the language, I think you are correct, and getting to a base conversational level. However, I still think that in order to learn a language in-depth, you should focus on just that language until you get to a point that you will never forget what you have learned. That's my new goal coming up to show my students its completely possible (even though I don't know which language I want to learn). I know some might disagree, but for me personally, I don't want to confuse myself!!

I can say that for me a Japanese level N3 wasn’t enough to keep it long term. Hopefully N2 will be
