the U with a diacritic and a small "I" means "vi" {ヴィ = vi }

Well I haven't seen any good PV's recently. Some decent ones yes, but none of them was really good. Also I don't watch commercials so... yeah... But I watched a lots of good VTR's, like this one for example. :)

shi-emu...searched for japanese commercials a lot on youtube...figure cm should be free for all to watch...and japanese commercials are offen in japanese...so it should be a way for me to learn the language or to at least learn more...or maybe just a chance to hear words that I allread kinda know again... MVHH

why do you use the katakana U in PV?

That doesn't explain why almost no textbook describes these katakana letters that do not have hiragana counterparts.

I think that is because hiragana is used to write Japanese native term and such sounds does not exist in native Japanese.
