Damn Subtext, this one is down right moving at times. Here's to the socially inept! Jar Jar's empathy driving him to ask Padme: "You think yousa people gonna die?" is very much the same moment from Parzival when the young knight ignores his social training, which instructed him not to ask unnecessary questions, resulting in him healing The Fischer King and his kingdom with this simple question: "What ails thee?" In other words, he is compassionate, and compassion is the energy binder that binds all the lifeforms together in symbiosis.

Thanks a lot! Great parallel there with Parzival. Never underestimate going against expectations.

Jar Jar never bothered me, always found it funny and lovable. The perfect example of someone who is clumsy but would risk everything to help his friends.

Me too he’s the reason why I got into Star Wars in the first place cause all I ever wanted from him is to return and entertain me again especially if I ever met him in edge at Disneyland in case of some homicidal jerk tries to abuse him due to their selfish personalities they carried I will always be there to defend him just as Anakin did to stand up to Saboba .

To be fair jar jar was the reason I got into Star Wars. and I waited years for his return so he can entertain me again.

Thank you for pointing these things out to people on this forum. I've been saying this for years. Jar-Jar is a combo of comic relief and a bumbling yet useful and well-meaning clod who winds up being central to the story's development.

I was born in 91, but I was a nerdy kid and loved Star Wars for several years before Episode I. The prequels never felt quite right to me, and I didn't like Jar Jar much between the ages of 12 to 20-something, but I never really hated him. This video really made me identify with him though. I've been the good-hearted but accident-prone guy MOST of my life. I wonder why it took me so long to realize I actually kinda like Jar Jar. I never had any problem identifying with Peregrin Took in Lord of The Rings. Although I was over 20 by the time I really got into LOTR(Dad tried to start me younger, but I got bored with The Hobbit about 100 pages in)

I have always thought about Jar Jar exactly as the biding agent of Episode 1 (exactly the misfit that fits in) when I was shocked to know that there is some internet trend to hate Jar Jar because he is clumsy and annoying. Guess what, this an epitome of a nerd (you know, the person who jnow Star Wars world better than the real one). So why the hate? Jar Jar is one of the most realistic characters in Star Wars, not to mention his crucial role in the story that is well explained in the clip.

Jar Jar is so weird. Whether he's funny or unfunny doesn't really matter much because of the symbiosis theme in TPM. No one is above anyone else which we he also subconsiously understands when he declares himself to be Qui-Gon's "humble servant."

It is beyond moronic to hate this floppy-ear. He would have been, as per his conception, an AWESOME Sith, operating in public view, while being unseen still. A great replacement for that epic blunder called Fart Siddifail. Yes, an epic blunder. A weak link, so much so, it's not even a link. Alas. Yet another massive "Dead Darth Maul Disaster" (DDMD) in the saga. Like with Star Trek: "DNGN".
