Diff preload afaik on the throttle prevents the outside drive wheel from spinning until the torque force matches what you've set. Off the the throttle the outside rear wheel will act like a brake, preventing turn in and creating excess understeer until again the difference in torque between both rear wheels matches the setting. So, high preload: good corner exit traction/poor corner entry turn in. Low preload: Poor corner exit traction/good corner entry turn in. Someone pls correct me if I'm wrong on this, I might have to look up Aris explanation again!

everything correct... except you got the preload the other way around xD

Thanks for doing this, Jardier. The devs should have done a bit beter job at explaining how things work. For example the brake pads. There is a big white box on the setup screen they could put information in like that.

Might be a good idea to add that, escpecially for people who are just starting to mess with setups, that it is good practice to change only 1 thing at a time. It's very easy to mess up the car with the setup, and if you changed 5 things at once, good luck finding out what is causing problems. You basically have to start all over again.
@Sean_Farmer
@Sean_Farmer 2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you said this as I was going to add that as well. Once you know the car and have many hours worth of setup experience you can make multiple changes as your initial setup and then tweak one at a time as you test.
@meatcreap

Dude, you explained everything very well as far as I'm concerned. I'm a beginner, but I know my way around a real car decently and everything you said made enough sense to me. I was having the same issues and, man, once I got in there and changed some of this stuff it was like a different car! I actually paused the game and made sure I was still driving the same car because I was sure that I had made a mistake. Feeling this thing turn in and actually attack corners on the line is a frickin game changer, dude. You're amazing and I love your attitude!! I found your videos through Jimmy Broadbent and I just love your style. The one critique I have is that you keep apologizing to us. I get it - I'm sure there are sticklers and mean people in the comments, but let it go and share your knowledge without thinking about them! You're clearly very talented (at driving and teaching, honestly) and have a lot of knowledge, so let it shine, baby! Thanks a ton and keep up the good work! I'm a sub for life, man!

Another fantastic video Jables... Great to get help learning the intricacies of ACC... What I would love to see personally and what I think is missing from most people's setup guides.... Glad to be a long time fan ;)

I have watch a few of these types of videos. Your was very simple and at this point in learning this game at 50 years old, I am very thankful. I started today to do a little by little. I went to far and said enough will try again. After changing the tire pressure and I think the bump stop it was a lot faster. I shoulf have stopped there and took time to learn the car because it was a lot faster and I have to learn to stop earlier. I just want that jag to turn better at Monza. Thx again!!!

Excellent video. To my cost I discovered how bad brakes can get at Bathurst - the brakes were cooking up across the top and cooling down to the chase. Then they weren't... ACC models total brake fade nicely, sending heat into the wheels. I ended up with 30.c+ on the front right and straight on at the corner. Watching this is a good insight into getting started at refining a tune!

Thank you! Also I really like this style of explaining. The vibe/feel type of organization is cool because we probably get more info than if you tried to categorize and order everything. And things of importance stick out in an accessible way. This is pragmatic for a noob like me : ) (I like sciency explanations as well - but they don’t help me much when trying to tweak stuff quickly in a practice sesh :)

Was a great and insightful help, I'm new to try and set up the springs and shocks as that's where I struggle the most, although I'm playing asstto corsa and have seen people's set up and it's so smooth compared to the standard set up. I'm not playing competizione yet, waiting to upgrade to pc from console but the lessons u give apply to any racing sim so would be a great video but understand that it's a hard one to do but think it would help us massively so I can be more competitive. Again, very good video!

Extremely helpful for someone less than 100h into ACC. I hit a serious wall at 50h when I had learned some basic fundamentals but haven't been able to find the consistency to eliminate more time. These are very useful because not only do I know very little about cars, but also every game seems to have its quirks and where you would take a different action in real life you do something different in game because of the way it was coded. It's very confusing out there for us noobs.
@gravityd9
@gravityd9 4 жыл бұрын
Good explanation. You're differential preload explanation was backwards though. Diff preload is essentially how much diff locking is preset when the car is at rest (no load through the diff). I could go into a longer mechanical explanation, but the short version is... lower preload = more oversteer when off throttle (at corner entry), and more understeer when on throttle (corner exit), higher preload = more understeer when off throttle (corner entry), and more oversteer when on throttle (corner exit). I'm happy to go through the more in depth explanation of why it works that way though, if requested.
