I'm not even a Megadeth fan, yet hearing you say Holy Wars is a 10/10 somehow feels like a small victory.
@ippotsk10 ай бұрын
I'm a surface-level listener of both Metallica and Megadeth, and it's true what Jared said; Metallica's hits are more anthemic and really get you pumped, while Megadeth's hits leave you more in awe of the musicianship. If you told me to pit Holy Wars against One, I don't think I'd be able to choose lol.

Megadeath has that guitar/musicianship angle for sure. It’s also a band born if pure spite, and that draws a certain type of person in. I think Megadeth and Metallica both have “lore” in a way that makes stanning for them feel important to some people. “Dave got screwed by those hypocrites” or “Cliff was the best” or other things. That kind of controversy and vitriol and debauchery, especially in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, is akin the a story about Greek gods, or at least it seems to scratch that kind of itch for a fair number of people.
@pulp735 Жыл бұрын
Yeah the rock and roll story of the birth of Megadeth is too cool to ignore. A band formed almost soley for the purpose of revenge whose leader was kicked out of a band nicknamed "Alcoholica" for drinking too much!? The mind can't help but wonder what that guys band must sound like? Plus, he talks loads of crap about how much better he is than Metallica in terms of his musicial skill...can he possibly back it up? Once you listen to Megadeth though it's very apparent that he actually can! Perfectly scripted rock and roll lore that has a large amount of truth to it!

Megadeth crushes! They were the first real "technical" metal band that was known for next level chops in the thrash era in my opinion. Most guitar obsessed metal heads will cite Megadeth as a big influence and with good reason. Megadeth's best material still stands heads and shoulders above most music today in terms of its complexity, intensity, power, and musical skill level. Prime era Megadeth is still the platinum standard for metal bands who are looking for the perfect blend of intensity, attitude and musicianship that most bands strive for but never actually execute.

Finn, you should make a video on Van Halen. Their early years as a back yard party band is fascinating. The hiring of David Lee Roth, the band's name change to Van Halen and transition to the Sun Set Strip that got them there first record deal. Their No Brown M&M clause. The lead singer changes. Eddie driving a Tank to Fred Durst's house, and his battle with cancer and death. Van Halen have a fascinating history and it should give you some views as well as some new viewers. I say this, because I was never really into Van Halen. I like a few songs, but I never was a big fan. But the bands story is fascinating, and I think it would be a big hit for you.
