The Y720 (predecessor to this model) has a 6GB 1060 BUT looks nothing like this, it follows the design language used since the Y50 and sports a 7th gen i7 7700hq.....

Yeah it’s so sad. It’s a great laptop but in order to get 1060 we have to downgrade to Y530 which really is isn’t even downgrading if you know what I mean or upgrade to Y740 which doesn’t have 1060 but 2060 and higher. Max Q is def a need for me.

Leonardo Wurangian well it does pretty good for me because I used it for school and moderate gaming Lenovo has a good cooling design it’s way better than the predator helios 300 for Me. It has bigger battery and less thermal throttling.. and 17.3 inches big

I just got the 15in version of this and I have to say this thing is awesome. All the games that I play I can play on high or max at 60fps. So I have nothing bad to say about it.

The fan noise is not bad. I wear head phones when playing so I don't hear it at all. When just doing normal things I don't notice it either.

@@nightfury4756 I could not really say. Have not really tested it. It stays plugged in most of the time on my desk. I use it at the couch every now and again while I watch TV but never really long enough to test the battery.

I wonder, with the almost same price, which one would you consider: 1. Razer Blade 14 2017 (i7-7700HQ, GTX1060 6GB, 16GB, 256GB SSD) 2. Lenovo Y730 17" (i7-8750H, GTX1050Ti, 16GB, 256GB) One is slim and lighter, one is powerful. I am really don't know how to choose.

I was eyeing this laptop for the past 2 months. Really wanted it and was waiting for Black Friday. Too bad you can't even customize this laptop like the Y530. I wouldn't mind the GTX 1050 Ti since it has thunderbolt 3. But there isn't even an option for a 144Hz screen like the Y530 does. I ended up getting the MSI Gs65 Stealth thin b/c I needed a laptop badly for school.

ports in the back of course. this has the perfect layout. headphone left... and because i am right handed on the right usb port for wireless mouse. those bezels thought annoy me... but... overall is a beast. we don't care for faster gpu or cpu... but lenovo is stuck always with 960 and 1050ti... not even 1060...i don't know why. price is amazing

Rockin a gtx 1050 ti OC'd in my dell 7567. Still works a charm, but you will need to bump those settings right down in heavier titles to low or medium to maintain 60 fps.

Good thing you reviewed the 17" version as its my preferred laptop size, however I am having difficulty choosing either this Legion Y730 or Asus Strix-II Scar. I really love the design of the Legion specially the ports on the back as that the place they should be! However the sad 60hz and that poor 1050Ti battles my favor to Scar, however Scar doesn't have Thunderbolt (but I would already be happy with its 1070 graphics but still Thunderbolt has advantage as well for multiple displays). Both has this amazing RGB light effects (Scar only has zone lighting but its fine with me), I think Asus have recently announce availability of its 17" version, I hope you get that reviewed as well. Looking to get this laptop but im having trouble deciding between 2 different models of the 17 inch version... All specs are the same but one has the i5-8300h & 8gb of memory & the other has the i7-8750h & 16gb of memory The price difference is about just over $200, the i5 + 8gb being $1,308 and the i7 + 16gb being $1524 (both final totals in canadian dollars) My question is the i7 and 16gb really worth paying the extra money? Main uses for this laptop would be: - light gaming, just for maybe 1-2 hours whenever i have free time - browsing the web - watching youtube/netflix - some school work using microsoft word, powerpoint etc. Any help would be super appreciated as im not too knowledgeable on the differences in processors, thanks in advance! :)

1050ti is low-mid-range, but the CPU and cooling is high range. They could've managed a 1060 max Q in the chassis, but many max Q laptops sacrifice thermals, especially the ones running the new hexacore CPU. that said, they're probably waiting for the 20 series mobile line for this model as they've already introduced a Y530 with the 1060.

There's a version of this laptop with an i9 processor. I think the reason behind adding the 1050ti was simply to balance out the heat between the gpu and cpu
