Great time to clean up and rework the big pond area. I hope the weather conditions have greatly improved. Those ducklings may stick around especially is there is food. They are probably 2 of others, probably ground nesting because they are so young. I hope that was their mother.

There should be a wildlife rescue group to raise the little guys. Check with vet or check with rangers. I've taken all kinds of animals. Here in Tucson they took a baby quail that hatched after the rest had gone. Good work guys. Stay hydrated in that heat. You have it worse than we do right now. 108 here, no humidity.

I rescued 9 ducklings after they fell through a rain gutter grate, good thing it was dry!! Mom and Dad stayed by it (2 hrs.) until I had time to stop my bus and see why they were staying there. It's a good feeling to help the cute little things. You're right, there is always something to do when you have acreage. Great video, have a great day! Love and hugs to all, especially Granny ❣️💐✌🏻🇺🇸🐕🏡

Awe those ducklings are absolutely adorable, good on you for taking them off the road, jeesh their fate could have been bad.....and your dad for seeing that one-all by himself!! I sure hope the Mom comes back for this little guy, guess you'll just have to keep an eye out for him/her & feed her some of that grass seed!!! Maybe if you have to move them again, put some gloves on (like the one you were wearing when working on the tractor) & then you wint have to worry about your 'human smell on them'. Awesome getting the Big Pond worked on. Maybe if your going to leave that little duckling in their you could give him a bit of clean water, like a couple of buckets? I would do the same, I like to save nature when I can!!! Stay Hydrated & dont work outside after 1pm, too hot!!! Cheers 😊

Great job helping all those baby ducks and I'm not sure ...but is that a Mud Puppy? Slow and steady on the house/shed. You always do such great work on those. So good your helping the homestead for your dad. I gripe about the heat here in Southern Iowa-especially since the rain has been going all around my little town and soaking everyone else. Glad I'm not down there. I burn like a lobster very easily even up here. Be safe in the heat. Peace Out.

two-toed amphiuma is an aquatic salamander. It is commonly, but incorrectly, called "congo snake", "conger eel" or the "blind eel".
@hannakinn
@hannakinn Жыл бұрын
I love snakes and most lizards and several other types of salamanders but that salamander was just too gross looking for me. I like morey eels but can't stand Lampery eels and I was kinda getting that vibe from that ugly salamander. I love axolotls, super cool with their external gills.

Yes that was the Momma. They are Black Bellied Whistling Ducks. Some what rare and very lucky those hatched given the temps you guys have been having. Normally temps over 103* will kill the developing embryo. They lay very large clutches up to 22 at a time, but also have a very low survival rate Texas is the mail breeding ground for all of the US with this species. You are a sweetheart for trying to save them!!
@lynnbetts4332
@lynnbetts4332 Жыл бұрын
Not sure how rare they are. They are fairly common up near Houston. They are unusual in that they roost in trees. I see them roosting in the pine trees next to my place. You can ID them from the salmon colored legs and beaks.
@AngelBluff
@AngelBluff Жыл бұрын
@@lynnbetts4332 Right in TX they are fairly common because South TX is their main breeding ground for all of the US. But for the rest of us they are rare to see. I'm a 35 +yr Birder and never saw one in person. They are Beautiful fowl

Those are Black-bellied whistling duck, they are and very beautiful but spooky. We have a lot of them that nest near my home. The Mallards and others that nest in neighborhood ponds will let my grandson feed them. they eat out of his hand as do the Canada geese, but not the whistlers. You guys need an Excavator so you can cut little channels in the pond that you couldn't do with the tractor
