Aries song has me in tears, brought me back to when i was at this summer camp for rock bands called day jams. Much like this series, it's kids who don't know each other in bands to write 2 songs and learn a cover in a week. Learning to set egos aside and not try to make them the band you want but to become the band you guys are. Incredible to watch them go through what i did almost exactly. I was the kid who was on the older side of the camp, rocked my black bc rich bronze series warlock and thought i was some guitar master. At first i tried to get some younger kids to play metal songs but in the end we managed to write some delightful little songs. I ended up being a counselor there once i was too old to be a camper and was kinda like the judges in this series popping into the practice rooms and offering advice. Ahh good times.

looking at the shred contest judging it on who took notes the best was unfair. When it came time to Garrett’s notes he was directly told “I have no notes for you” meaning his chance of winning was stunted right there. In my opinion Garrett was the most consistent during this challenge and should have won.

Whether he talks to people with hand puppets or has someone there who can translate for him. It would be entertaining af to see none the less!

The drums were even sloppier in this one. There are very clear moments were the timing is miles off. In fact, creds to the rest of Aeris, because staying in time when the drummer messes up is very fucking hard. I don't know if they have a clicktrack on their monitors, but if they don't that is impressive. In any case. They did not deserve a clean sweep victory. It was a lot better than the first song, but not worthy of a maximum scoring by the judges. I'm sure they only got that score because the judges and producers got together before the performance and were afraid the band would just quit and walk away and they didn't know how to continue the show with a whole band gone. Also, their challenges were drum solo, clean guitar and 2 time signatures. There was a drum solo. There was clean(ish) guitar. But I didn't hear 2 time signatures...

If the drums were perfectly on time, they would be ok, but they weren't. I think people are too worried about being "mean" in some circles. It's ok to get called out for messing up. Graystone got called out for being off too.

And if it's something minor or subjective then okay, you can overlook some things in favor of the overall performance. But drums being off beat is a big deal. It would have been better for Alexa herself if this was judged honestly. Because it's obvious she is pretty kickass on drums, as evidenced by the funky song they did in ep3. It maybe hard to get criticism but it's important and should be taken as constructive feedback so she can use that ti improve.

Aeris had me banging my head to their song on my first watch. As well as tearing up, that was a profoundly powerful performance. Greystone, frankly, has never been my favorite band in either season but they totally captivated me with the black metal theatrics. Gonna have to say that they should appeal to that more often as it really works for them. But hands down Soulfire is my jam, as I am an 80s hair metal brat at my core. My money is on Soulfire baby! But Aeris, you killed it!!!

Finally some GOOD reality TV. Season 1 was incredible. So stoked to be watching season 2! I hope we get a season 3 and beyond!

Aeris killed it. Holy shit what a song. Kacey's voice is amazing. 10/10 no notes. The production on this season has been a huge step up. Really enjoying the show so far. I'm glad we're getting to see the groups create more original songs together.
