Her WR 800m run first lap was 56.82sec. We have just seen a 17 year 1 month female run 56.56sec first lap was meant to run it in 59sec and finished in 1.57.86sec. Who knows with a slower first lap 57sec what time she could run in the future?

I am 99.99% sure the 100, 200 (both Flo-Jo,1988), the 400 (Marita Koch, 1985) and the 800 (Jarmila Kratochvílová, 1983,) were all aided by steroids. Flo-Jo's physical changes (deepened voice, facial hair, acne, muscles) and drastic drop in times make it obvious she was taking steroids. Her best time before 1988 was 10.96; an incredible .47 seconds difference between that and her World Record time of 10.49. Koch was part of a state sponsored doping system by the East Germans and there is documentation (doses only on paper so her record still stands*) that she was part of it. Kratochvílová was a mediocre runner until magically at the age of 29 she became successful and set her record at the unheard age of 32. (I'll let you decide what to think about her physical appearance, but it's not feminine.) Before Kratochvilova’s record run, the 800-metre record had fallen 23 times since World War II. It has not been broken since, and now stands as the oldest world record in track and field. (* Also, they unearthed a letter from Koch complaining that a compatriot was being given stronger doses of the steroids because her uncle was president of the pharmaceutical company that fed the East German athletics regime.)

I agree. I don't know exactly what happened to Kratochvilova's jaw, but it could be the effect of steroids. As far as her record, it has been illusive, but I believe it could be broken by Mu if she stays healthy.

A friend of mine at the 84 Olympics said that Kratochvilova came to a post competition party in a tiny pink dress and the people in the room bust into laughter, since she looked like Joe Piscopo in the beer commercial. She may have been part of the inspiration for it.

Caster Semenya is banned from running 400-1500 because she was born with a DSD (difference is sex development) condition called 5-ARD, born with internal testes, not ovaries, she and the other two 800 meters RIO medalists all with that condition literally went through natural male puberty. this is different from women who PURPOSELY cheat with performance enhancing drugs.

My question would be will it ever be possible to beat these records (Koch's and Kratochvilova's) as a clean athlete? There has got to have been many 400m and 800m athletes since the 1980's who have competed at the highest level, taken PED's, and have still not beaten these records (or come close). It is a very sad conclusion to come to that there might be suspicion surrounding those who might eventually break it.

@@dragosromanski7574 I doubt EVERYONE (at Olympic level) is taking PEDs. I presume you also mean that everyone at Olympic level has ALWAYS been taking them? Or at least since the 1980's? If so how come no one has come close to beating Koch, FJ or others? Even with today's better training, shoes and presumably more effective PEDs? Also, there been quite a few incidents where high level athletes have been visibly (and vocally) disapproving of fellow athletes they knew to be 'cheating' - this doesn't fit with a culture of everyone being on PEDs.

Just waiting for her to say the game changed when she started implementing steroids into her daily training regiment. The fact that she didn't even come close to setting records until she was past her biological prime and her muscle mass during this period was extensively higher than any other year. It's unquestionable. The main question is why does she not get an asterix next to her name in the record books but Babe Ruth does? Either way you look at it, it wasn't an even playing field.
