I never thought I would be saying this about a youtube video based on a show that's now 50 years old. This always brings tears to my eyes. The music is so poignant, and the captures express the solemn, reflective Jarrod in confusion, pain, and despair. It also makes me appreciate how fine an actor Richard Long was. Well done.

He sure was. I watched this show and just didn't understand real talent as a child. He was only 47y when he died. RIP Richard Long 😢.

Such a handsome man, talented actor, but gone way too soon. The music and photos reflect just that. Thanks.

Very well done. He experienced a lot of heartache in real life as well. So beautiful and bitter sweet. Luv this guy!!!

He had a full life but everything happened early. Film career at 17. Widowed at 27. First heart attack at 33 and gone at 47. Yet by all accounts he was a happy man. Every set he worked on seemed to be a happy one. People he worked with remember him fondly. Even the second wife he fought with (he said their biggest problem was they had completely different temperaments) never stopped loving him.

Very nice! Those eyes! In a lot of these shots you can feel the weight of the world on Pappy's shoulders. Pretty song, too. Thanks for posting.

3:50 - that dance scene with Barbara Stanwyck makes me wonder if it was put into "The Way to Kill a Killer" just as an homage to that wild dance scene Stanwyck and Long did together about 12 years earlier in a film called "All I Desire." They' danced their butts off in that film, and now we have a brief, sweet waltz. Very nice touch, whether it was to harken back or not.

Beautiful combination of RL's VERY expressive face, and that song - which I had not heard before. Very nice job! I certainly would love to see such a video about our mutual friend Mr. Landau, too!

I don’t listen to music much, but very coincidentally the only other place I ever heard this song was in the middle of the night in the train station in New Orleans, not far from Bourbon Street, just after I had first watched this video. Very eerie.

His daughter Valerie recently gave an interview to Josh Mills on a podcast called Rarified Heir. It’s an amazing interview, worth the 2 hours.
