Apparently the amount of changes made to the English movie were so vast that the Voice Actor's Guild classified it as an original work instead of a dub. Which fucked the studio execs a bit because voice acting for original works pays higher than voice acting for a dub. So hooray to Fox bigwigs having to shell out more money to the actors!

I have such a deep love for this movie. Back when me n my siblings were little and we had the DVD, we'd watch this every. single. day. For months if not years, until my mom had a friend over who had a child about our age (old enough to know what she was doing), who then took her mother's keys to the DVD and ruined it. By that time, the DVDs were no longer being sold. On my 16th birthday, I saw this playlist had been uploaded and watched the movie by myself and was the happiest I'd ever been on my birthday.

Oh it's canon. In the original anime, they sort of have a realization moment of "this happened before" when they return to the real world to fight Digimon. Then they all realize they saw the fight between Greymon and Parrotmon as children. It's both in the dub and sub I believe. Plus the Agumon here is the same Agumon as in the anime, as I believe he also had those memories. Though I think it was a "he died and became a digi-egg" thing to later be found by Tai again.

Speaking of integrating website code into Digimon lore... My favorite Easter egg involves ZeedMillenniumon, a Digimon said to be so powerful he can't be defeated, and the only way to stop him was to bind him in encrypted data. If you translate the barcode on ZeedMillenniumon's bindings, it spells out Bandai's website URL. So the joke is that only the creators themselves can contain him. Also speaking of Millenniumon; in the Adventure reboot, there's a scene where Millenniumon traps the kids in his little pocket dimension and starts "compressing their data," which the show depicts as them being slowly crushed by an endless black void, and that's terrifying.
@theonewhoismany80722 жыл бұрын
The code on Zeed's seals is the same code that appears in Yggdrasil's depiction as the system that rules over the Digital World. So it's hinted that the God that sealed Zeed was Yggdrasill. That speaks volumes when a God thats omnipresent,omnipotent and nigh omniscient across an infinite multi-layered multiverse with the layers having an infinite number of universes,timelines,space-times(each layer can be its own multiverse, the Human layer the smallest and lowest in the cosmology is your classic infinite multiverse) branching infinitely for infinite posibilities that resides in a higher dimension transcending the Human Layer who controls the Kernel and by default all the data from the past to the present to the future could only seal Zeed.

This was a nostalgia trip I was not expecting. Also fun lore stuff: The events of Our War Game are heavily implied (I don't think they ever mention it in the series) to be the origin of Digimon 02 (series 2) digi-destined. We see cameos of 02 characters, but also the fact that people all over the world were watching the fight correlates with the appearance of new chosen kids around the world. Just a neat plot thread that they continued from the initial short film.
@GamingintheAM08012 жыл бұрын
They do mention it in the second season, and Our War Game was the event that resulted in Yolei becoming a DigiDestined. Davis and Cody, though, didn't see that event, but were present for Myotismon's invasion of Tokyo (Davis' family were held hostage with everyone else, and Cody's family was in the plane that Garudamon saved from crashing).

The Japanese version of the third movie never really explains exactly what happened to Chocomon/Kokomon, but the fact that he disappeared in a windstorm and returns as a wendigo-based Digimon seems to imply that like it's supposed to be based on the actual myth of the wendigo, which travels via the wind and transforms people into wendigos themselves, and that Wendigomon had just lost his mind after being apart from Wallace/Willis for so long. During the battle with Cherubimon, Wallace condemns him as not being the Chocomon that he once knew, but as the force that took him away, and the Japanese version has scenes where the baby Chocomon's voice speaks to Wendimon's present self telling him that Wallace isn't the same as the child he remembers and to reject him. I think that's meant to be the wendigo possessing him? And when he turns into Cherubimon's good form at the end, Wallace notes that this is the REAL Chocomon.

The Japanese versions of the original 3 movies are actually really good. Especially the 3rd part which was the longest movie and got cut the most, the original is my favourite of the 3. It has this really freaky dreamlike vibe with the animation and weird music through the entire thing. There's also another movie using the 02 cast called Revenge of Diaboromon which kind of continues Our War Game. I'm pretty sure my favourite part from the Japanese first part of the movie (the original movie is just called like Digimon Adventure or something since it was supposed to be the pilot for the show, but it makes it confusing since it has the same name as the anime lmao) was cut from Digimon The Movie. Basically when Greymon and Parrotmon are fighting Greymon shoves his horn through Parrotmons beak and shatters it. It's a really sick bit of animation and I adore it. I genuinely recommend watching the original movies tho. They're really good and as much as I love the dub, it really doesn't do them justice. The first 2 parts aren't too bad, but especially the 3rd part was robbed. Most of Digimon doesn't give me nostalgia since I've been consistently watching it throughout my entire life, but that movie does. It feels like a weird dream about summer vacation. Anyways I need to stop before I just ramble about Digimon for an unnecessary amount of time because I love it with my whole entire being. Oh and if you like Tamers then I highly suggest checking out Digimon Ghost Game. It's the newest anime series and gets even darker than Tamers as it goes on. It's not very plot driven, having a monster of the week format for most episodes, but the individual episodes and characters are really solid. It's one of the best Digimon animes in years and probably my 2nd favourite overall.
@blankspace8707 Жыл бұрын
Screw it idc I'm rambling about the 3rd part I forgot just how much they butchered it😭 The entire final fight scene is so trippy in the sub. It has this like idek how to describe it but it's so weird music in the background that's genuinely anxiety inducing. I think it uses xylophones or something idk. But it gradually gets faster and more frantic throughout the entire fight until it suddenly ends with a sound like a water drop when Gargomon (Terriermons evo) falls into the water. It was such a weird choice but it works so well and I love it. The part at like 1:38:19 with the one liners is actually pretty accurate to the sub tho lmao. All of the digimon are giving their cool one liners except for Digmon, who's just as dry, so Cody does say something similar with like "he could've been more animated." God I love that scene. I'm done fr now......... probably maybe I make no promises

I usually tell people watching either is fine, but in the case of the movies, watching in both languages is incredibly interesting. They tell completely different stories. @GamingintheAM08012 жыл бұрын
Digivices are used to accelerate the evolution process. Digivolution occurs naturally, but it takes years of gradually gathering data before it happens. The Digivices essentially allow the kids to cheat by converting emotions and energy into data, which is why those boosts are only temporary for the kids' Digimon. Once the energy is expended, they revert.

I hoarded tons of original Japanese songs, fan art, official books, etc. I still have all that stuff too. I was older than you at that time but Digimon was a very important show to me as well! I still love it to this day & keep myself up-to-date on any Digimon happenings out there (obviously they're few & far between anymore). It's so good to see people bringing back the hype for it. Man, I REALLY wanted to see Jarvis reacting to the Billiam video, because Billiam is VERY critical of that movie (rightfully so) while Jarvis almost only had nostalgic praise for it. It‘s a bummer it ends right before probably the best part, which now seems to be lost media.

It's so insane watching the internet community in this film while also watching you watch it on various video platforms being streamed in the current internet age. Someone should make a reaction video to this video in 20 years so we can see what the internet looks like in 3 generations at once.

And just an observation, did War greymon and Metal Garurumon merge to make a Digimon Megazord?? 😋😋😋

I know I’m late but let me explain the evolution stage mix ups during our war game. The confusion comes from the fact that there are two different names for each stage depending on language. In Japanese it goes Baby I, Baby II, Child, Adult, Perfect, Ultimate. While in America it goes Baby, In Training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, Mega. You’ll notice both have ultimate, but they’re different stages between languages. In JP ultimate is 6th, while in US ultimate is 5th. This is where the confusion comes from. Jarvis read Wargreymon’s JP stage but Infermon’s US Stage. Infermon is a 5th stage Digimon, or US Ultimate. Diaboromon/Wargreymon/MetalGarurumon are all 6th stage Digimon, or US mega.

I started bobbing my head when One Week came on and I realized Jarvis was doing the same thing. I really liked this video and watching how much fun Jarvis was having, this is me watching Newsies 1992. I wonder if this is how Jarvis got interested in tech?

This film blew my mind as a kid. Love it to this day. Only learned recently, it was three sort films smashed together. Thought it was an original film.

The best actually laugh this movie got from me and still gets from me is “I can barely hear you, take me off speakerphone” that is the best line in any movie ever 😂😂😂 you know aside from “I love lamp” or “you know what they say 60% of the time it works everytime” both lines from Anchorman but oh man that line is in the top 5 lines of all time 😂😂

I'm sorry I'm still laughing at "Gigi Destiny" But I'm also loving how we all just remember the lines. For the most part, it was coherent to me as a kid. The only thing I didn't understand is why matt said "he's teasing us" when infermon said "don't interfere", but I realize now that the box by it says "I'm over here~"

I love this movie! Also I think they were in their baby forms to conserve energy and its easier for them to travel. They can be carried and they look like plush dolls...I think Also this movie is one reason why Cherubimon is my favorite digimon 1:35:07 did this man just say this is the worst part of the movie?! HUH???

Now that I'm older, I can tell that a lot of the dialgue probably wasn't in the original and made to have a much lighter and childish tone, but they are jsut too cute. Nostalgia all the way.

Finally got my copy of the 1-3 redubbed movies in 1080p that released recently. It also has this version (minus the angela anaconda intro) also in 1080p. Also still have the movie and first handful of episodes on VHS and DVD, and Rumble Area 1-2 on ps1 and ps2 all still in their cases. Felt like a kid again watching it in the theatre with my own kid in my own home theatre

Say what you want about the quality of the writing and the executive meddling and overreach, but the animation and voice acting in this still holds up ridiculously well considering the state of the industry at that time. Plus, some of the jokes still kill my sides to this day. Specifically about the mother's cooking!
