An acoustic single sided 78 rpm disc of one of Heifetz's early recordings. I picked up a whole lot of these discs a couple of months ago and will be uploading more. From a recording session on 9th November 1917 at Victor's studios in Camden, New Jersey. The second of two takes was used. The pianist is André Benoist. USA Victor and UK HMV were commercially linked, each issuing the other's recordings under their own label in their own country; both used Nipper and the gramophone and the angel logos at various times.
Transferred using a 3mil conical with light declick and noise reduction (-3dB) on Gnome Wave Cleaner. 48dB/Octave low pass filter at 6000Hz, nothing above that on the original recording. I gave the bass a little boost from 250Hz to 80Hz where it was steeply rolled off. This recording shows the distinctive timbre of an acoustic recording.
All processing and uploading was done losslessly to avoid transcoding artifacts.
SME copyright charlatans tried to claim copyright on this video. WRONG - As it's pre 1923 it's public domain. Bloody scroungers trying to claim revenue for my hard work. I never will have ads on my videos if I can help it!
Many thanks to 6dBperOctave for the info!
