Күн бұрын

Jase devises a plan to manipulate Si's behavior in the duck blind. Phil talks about why there are so many duck-blind conversions. And the guys discuss how to love Jesus more than fishing, preachers who rail against people who skip church, what God looks like, the significance of communion, house churches, and why the Lord's Supper became more special during the pandemic. Jase also explains why pews are "of the devil" and suggests a good way to get rid of them.

I always come away with some morsel of insight. Today I realized that we need to burn the pews! No, seriously, I was blessed with the discussion of putting hunting up as an idol. The point is our focus. I was on my way to church years ago, & I picked up an older couple hitchhiking. (Back when it was safer to do.) They just wanted me to drop them off at an on-ramp to the freeway. On the way I asked about where they were going. They were going to their son's place in the next state because something happened to their home... Long story. They were hitchhiking because they were car jacked & robbed. I was moved to spend the tithe money I was taking to church on these people. I took them to the bus station & got them tickets to their son's town. I gave them the rest for food. I told them that it was a gift from God. I couldn't have afforded it. That was a devine appointment. I missed church & gave God's money to those people. Seems to me that sometimes we idolize church attendance. A lot of good Christian folk wouldn't have even stopped. They'd have missed a great opportunity to be God's hands.

Do you realize your story was a testimony of how God Works In mysterious Ways? It was God who put you there at that time and place to help that couple. Seems from what you wrote, you learned a greater lesson about God’s grace than any church service could have ever provided you. Thank you for sharing your story. It also helped restore my faith in the human race! God Bless You

I used to live in a bad neighborhood where we were constantly confronted with ppl begging for money. I always let God guide me. Sometimes He'd tell me a person was dangerous & call me to avoid them. Most times He'd move me to give. Sometimes He'd be VERY specific. There were many amazing experiences. One time I was walking into a gas station & saw a man standing in dark clothing, hood covering his head. I didn't ask God. I just judged & hurried toward the door. God said- "LOOK at him!" I did. But I kept hurrying in. I saw he was a young boy. Maybe barely 18. The whole time I was in that store, God was working on me. I was in a bad mood, feeling rebellious. He was telling me to hand him the $20 that was in my pocket & to tell him that HE TOLD me to give it to him. My heart was only slightly willing. I'm an introvert & often insecure. God kept working on me all the way out the door, across the parking lot, into my truck... I started the truck & pulled out before I finally surrendered. Pulled back in, got out of the truck... began the long awkward walk toward the kid, who was looking at me with some fear & confusion. He had never asked me for money. Never even looked at me until that moment. I said- "Listen. God made me look at you. Nagged me the whole time I was in that store. He apparently really loves you." He immediately broke down in tears. I handed him the $20 and said "He wanted me to give this to you and TELL you it was from Him. I know it is, because I wasn't willing. I was leaving. He wouldn't let me." He nodded. More tears. He thanked me. I asked him if I could hug him. He nodded and I did. I asked if he was safe. He said he was. I said "Call your Parents." I don't even know where that came from. (God obviously) He looked at me with surprise and told me he would. I believed him. God then told me to go. I asked the Lord if I should drive him somewhere. It didn't seem right to leave him there. He said no. My part was done. I think abt that boy often. I trust God got him where he needed to go. He didn't look like he'd been out there long. After so many years of interactions like that, you come to recognize the looks. Mentally ill, addicted, hiding from the law, etc. I don't think he was any of those. I hope to learn the details of this moment when I get to Heaven. God is so personal. So present. Able and determined to do amazing things. Even when He's working with a rebellious daughter.

That’s the reason why God says that a small remnant shall be saved. Concerning the Religious Churches ⛪️ of today. I’v always understood that God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost teaches. That he introduced me to a way of life not a religion. Because he lives in us not a building.

@S & H Farm - Preach! God is always present and ready to be just what we need wherever we need it. Pinpoint accurate correction steeped in Mercy, comfort that envelops your heart & soul and brings tears of gratitude, perfect direction that instantly clears up the deepest confusion.... it's all there for the asking at every moment, wherever you are. Sometimes He's silent, and calls you to wait longer & listen in silence, or to open your Bible & He'll meet you there. Sometimes He's silent & makes you wait in faith to see what He's going to do rather than hear abt it first. Most of the time, in my experience, He makes His presence known, readily & clearly. Whatever the case, He's always in control, always good, always faithful.

My grandmother (80 yrs old) died in the ER 5 years ago and the doctors revived her and boy did she have a lot to say! They were wheeling her in her bed hooked up to machines & on a ventilator (tube down her throat) as my mom walked along side the bed my Nan started doing sign language (finger spelling ...she had a deaf brother and knew how to spell) So, she said she went to heaven! She said she saw my grandfather & he was young & handsome. She then continued (in post breast cancer surgery excitement, adrenaline flowing) to say that she saw Jesus!!! She said he was not a good looking man. she said he was as tall as a building. She then said that Jesus leaned over, kissed her on the forehead & said that he was not quite ready for her yet!! He sent her back to tell all of her family what she had seen. Later, after she was out of the hospital. she told me all about her holy reunion and she said, ya know Halli, I've always tried to have faith & believe that for all these years there really is a God and a heaven, but there were times when I doubted Gods words... NOW I KNOW for sure Jesus is REAL!! Ever since she told me that, I have felt as though God sent her back for Me. I have had many doubts, but not anymore!! Thank you Jesus for your Mercy! We are not saved by good deeds, but by God's Mercy!

@Free Thinker Hey slow down there. No need to call others an idot. An idea my be illogical to one person, but that does not make it wrong because we might not understand and believe. Finally, Jesus was not invisible. He was as you and me. Now he is glorified and that is the reality we believers hope by faith. Since faith is the hope in something we cannot see in the present body.

Religion is man made....the Word of God transcends all. As a Baptist I would listen to a Bishop if he were speaking the Good News. Church is where two or more gather in His name. It’s not a building or ideal....it’s the Word of God! I 💯 agree Raquel and have found this channel as a way to help me look at how I am utilizing the Word of God in my life and those I meet daily.

Church ( body of Christ) the invisable , universal Church. the church ( ecclisia) taught all throughout NT by Jesus and the Apostles is the assembled gathering ( local church) The verse you cited is Jesus directing the Apostles how to handle a brother that sins against him. Matthew 18 is pertaining to church discipline, taught by Jesus. The two or more is the OT validation for accusing someone.

Thank ya'll! Ya'll have me fired up for Jesus again. I've been in church for awhile and have been very involved, but got burned out on the "religiousiness" of the church. Your lessons have put me back in the right frame of mind. Keep the Bible lessons and stories coming!

Please watch what you say about getting rid of the prews, years ago there were people in our church who brought getting rid of the prews and our church split half into 😢😢😢😢. So we kept our prews but this year we got beautiful nice chairs.

Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy... Man does not live by bread alone but every Word from the mouth of God... Sunday is a day to recieve not pretend you have made some sacrifice or done an awesome work attending church. It is not an obligation to join the assembly in worship. It is a freedom we take part in by faith to be with our brothers and sister that day. There we hear what has been done for us and are given every gift from Jesus... I suggest not missing out but when you put anything before the Word your real gods have been shown. Btw.... it does come up in the Gospel. Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.

Paul's conclusion of the 1 Cor 11 matter was that since the purpose of the gathering was to partake of the Lord's Supper, and all it represents, they needed to dispense with the common meal, and take that at home.

That’s right Jess, a very wise man once told me quit wasting your time inviting people to church. If you introduce them to Jesus they will end up coming to church. :-)

To me, the Church (the body of Christ) meeting at peoples' homes seems more natural and conducive to growth in the Faith on a more personal level. I am not a big fan of so called Mega-Churches, though I have been to them here around the DC area where I currently live. I like smaller gatherings of brothers and sisters who come together for a time of sharing, praising and worshiping the Lord .

Where 2 or more are Gathered. My view is wear 2 or more are gathered there is your Assembly. When 2 or more people meet it is an assembly. We can assemble as 2 People. Its nice to have more together for an assembly but you may only have 2 too Pray.

I would like to go to a church that’s actually doing something for people. Being involved with helping others . But , those are few and far between. I like hearing a good sermon. But I rather be doing the Lords work . With churches today , that’s usually happening outside of a church building.

I've found this interesting. I'm an artist. How can I take this approach toward my interests in the arts as to you mentioned not making duck hunting idolatry. Sometimes I feel it's not God's plan for my life as an artist, but something tells me this is a wrong way to think about it. Any suggestions?

I cannot see how table and chairs in place of pews, chairs, or whatever, would work with a very large church. Unless the building was set up like a dinner theater. Or even a small church, if they are meeting in a small building. The tables would take up space that could be for seating. If you are eating, where is the preacher giving the sermon? And then there is the singing. Sing at the table? Maybe I am struggling thinking out of the box. lol

My current church is in a pastors backyard. It’s a brand new church but legitimate nonetheless. It has a name, it’s a non profit etc.. It’s a new church but we don’t have an “official” building yet. And part of that is the fact that we’re not hoarding money so we can get a building. We’re serving & blessing our community. So money is always going in & coming out. If God provides a way to get into some sort of building someday great but that’s not our main priority. We gather, learn & worship in a home/backyard then on certain days we go out & serve the community. Again, church can & should be done anywhere/everywhere .. because WE are the church.. the body not the building.

I had no Idea that in the Catholic faith, the bread and wine was considered literal and not symbolic. A family member who is a Catholic priest told my mother that although others within the faith believed this way, he did not. I had never heard this before, and I was shocked. I am a Southern Baptist who tend to take communion quarterly. I don’t think that’s enough. It somehow seems it’s not on your radar like it should be.

Thanks for discussing communion. My family & I were told we are not doing communion right if the bread and body aren’t blessed first. We replied with: it is what is in our hearts and God knows. Great idea to sell the pews and use money to go back to use at your church. People enjoying repurposing pews in their homes.
IS THIS REAL FOOD OR NOT?🤔 PIKACHU AND SONIC CONFUSE THE CAT! 😺🍫
