We will be moving in a few months. I bought QR code stickers on Amazon. They come with an app so that you can note (with photos if you want) what is in everybox. And then note which boxes belong to each category you set up. I'm planning to save the stickers by putting them in plastic pockets and clipping them to boxes, rather than sticking them, so I can reuse them :)

That is such a good idea for moving out! I’m moving out soon and was just going to do a mater list in each box but the photos are a good idea 🥰🥰

My sister recently moved to her first apartment and from watching her experience I would say three things. 1. Declutter and think about what you want or need to bring. 2. Plan to need more boxes or hands than you were expecting 3. Breathe and don't panic. Everything is fine, the most stressful parts of moving will pass and everything will be good. Good luck to everyone who is moving.

If you are painting walls, definitely pages with color swatches, names, wall square footage, etc is very helpful. You can also put fabric samples for new furnishings, etc. I actually put all of this into an accordion folder when we moved.

I love your videos and your spreads are always beautiful!!! Also my moving advice is to make a bin or two with all the things you'll need or may need right away and put said bin in an easily accessible spot so you don't have to dig through everything to find these things. An example of what I would include in this bin/bins is documents you may need right away, scissors/box cutter, spare clothes, cleaning products, toiletries, hand soap, toilet paper, and maybe snacks and drinks.

Probably my biggest suggestion I would make with moving, is to clean as much as you can in your downtime before move day, then once everything is out it's not such a big task to clean before handing the keys back. Doing things like weeding the garden/pavers/walkways, getting rid of any cobwebs, picking up leaves and other general clutter outside before you leave means you can forget the outside on clean day and solely focus on the inside which generally needs the most work. Making sure if you have any pets that need to be locked away during the move, that you clean the room out completely that they are going to be in first and only open that room once you're almost done for the day and make sure you give them one last look around the "old" place before moving them last to the new place.

I'm so looking forward to this. My goal right now is to save enough to buy a home (either buy a trailer outright or get a mortgage on a small house) and I'm just over 1/3 to my goal of $35k. I'm using The Hero's Journal to help with that goal and my bullet journal is just for my monthly schedule. But I'm so excited to start moving plans in my journal when it's time!

I always plan to keep it (where practical) in business/daylight hours (lots of reasons, like power being cut off) and some daily down time for at least 2 hours before bed. Spare 5 mins? Pack 1 box and no aw nostalgia, just get on with it. Until I get to own my own place, I always anticipate being booted, and always somewhat ready.

I love the rainbow shading on these layouts. I love that you put Coke Zero on your essentials list, I laughed when I noticed that.

We had to move within 2 weeks to our current house. We had a lot of boxes and when we had the Movers come and do a quote, they were told we still had to pack more. Turns out they assumed we had finished packing and didn't have the right truck, so the truck was much smaller then what we needed. Some guys were nice, where others were quite rude. I told them that I had autism and a bad arm. Some people just put boxes in rooms that I didn't say and so things got lost until we found them in the box. Also some stuff got broken. Make sure that the Movers are good and not what is quoted the cheapest (cheapest was around $1500 AUD).

I've moved hundreds of miles away from where I was and if you are moving such a long distance I highly recommend packing and taking with you a change of clothing that is off season. It was July (summer here) and where we moved to at night was literally freezing so I had to wear pants and a cold weather shirt. Also if you know about the move months ahead of time packing 5 boxes a day will get you to your goal. The last time I moved I had two weeks notice and that was HECTIC for a move hundreds of miles away.

Very excited for you! Hope all goes well! Are you moving during school? And I love that you make a video with lots of ideas and content. So often things like this are spread over several videos with lots of 'white noise' to make them longer.

What my parent's and I did when we moved back in 2007...we put personal stuff in our cars (for my Dad and I that meant our electronics aka computers, movies etc.) My Mom had her cross stitch and yarn etc. Dad had a friend who has a moving truck company and they helped us with everything else. Hope your move goes smoothly. Love and Hugs!!

When we moved last time we were able to put our new fridge in before we moved in. So it was cold before we actually moved in, it made things easier! Our old house was demolished so I did a walk through with the kids took photos laughed as we remembered things and there were a few tears. I also watched the start of the demo so took photos of that as well.

these would have come in handy for me since I moved twice in the past six months! luckily they weren't very big moves so it wasn't too rough (I first moved out of my parents' house and in with my boyfriend so I didn't have to worry about moving everything all at once, then the lease on that place ran out so we moved into a different place only like 10 minutes away)

@@JashiiCorrin I was great when they were moving boxes from the truck to the new house. I knew green stickers went to the kitchen, blue to the bedroom, etc. and could tell the guys where to put boxes. Saved me a bunch of work because they took all the upstairs boxes upstairs!

Hi Jess! Thank you for your ideas about moving, which I save in my favorites. We move from France to New Caledonia (which is a French territory, that helps, but it's also VERY far away from where we live). For now, as we have around one year to prepare, I am collecting some information. As I love to have all my information in the same place, it's the perfect opportunity to start a new bullet journal! By the way, when you order from Archer and Olive, do you have a way to avoid taxes? Maybe you have a big collection of empty ones at your home, and I could buy directly from you? In EU, you end up paying more than the actual items in taxes and shipping... I love the journal you used for travel plans. In any case, thank you very much for all the information you share with your community.

Well done with the layouts Jess. I love how the rainbow spectrum turned out. Just an idea for you: if you’re using a moving service, I’d do as much research as you can on the company. Unfortunately moving company scams are RAMPANT in the US where I live and it sucks so badly to deal with, on top of everything else you’re likely dealing with. I say this because it almost happened to my parents when we moved house. Best of luck with everything. Sending a hug.

Seconding everyone else saying to hire movers! Honestly it doesn't cost a ton more to pay for them to do the packing as well and it makes life so much easier. Flick me a message anytime if you want to know who we used or anything! ^-^

My biggest piece of advice is, if you are able to afford to pay for movers, DO IT! Saving the money is not worth the extra suffering of doing it all yourself! 🙀😹
