Robbie's clearly knowledgeable, but he just seems to give plot summaries and descriptions of what happens rather than why it's good or bad. He only really said what he thought of the film in the last twenty seconds.

I like Robbie, but why does Mark appear to be suspiciously absent EVERY time a Bourne film releases? Someone else must've picked up on this phenomenon, surely.

One thing which needed mentioning is the Rambo 3 "he's boxing for money" story beginning. They only left out that he donates his proceeds to Buddhist monks. Unfortunately a warning sign for the story depth for the rest of the film.

No mention of the indestructible swat van, it plows through multiple cars without a single scratch afterwards. Plus Jason Bourne's amazing healing powers, after his big fall he has a big cut, 5 minutes later it's gone and he's perfect again.

I think the studios have decided that the way to revive a franchise is to do pastiche of the old films first. Like Star Wars and Star Trek ... just to get people interested again and then go on to make more adventurous films (maybe). So that's what this is.

This is coming from a guy that gave Ghostbusters 2016 four stars and stated that it "captured the spirit of the original film".

Sadly this review is spot on. Wow, really expressed a lot of my thoughts. Well done guys. Athens=brilliant, Great attempt at bring the world of 2016 into a bourne movie template, Story depth=not really there, Tony Gilroy=missed, Greengrass doing what Greengrass does better than anyone, Some stuff just not ringing true, Who are these people what is their story etc, if you want to get your Bourne fix=you'll get it but its not on par with the others.Yep.

Tommy Lee Jones looking like a melted candle? Well, it's not like that's the way he looks for about, oh, I dunno, the last 20 years.

Enjoyed the film a lot. Not as good as the original set, but thats largely in part of the story painting itself into a corner. Cracking review, love Robbie Collin as a reviewer, his love of Michael Mann is air punch inducing. Top reviewer.

I don't agree with this at all. I'm a huge fan of all the Borne films (the trilogy, no one counts the 4th one, for obvious reasons). I thought this was a brilliant modern take with in the Bourne genre, a genre crafted by Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon. it feautures some fantastic performances from Alicia Vikander and Riz Ahmed (hard to believe it's the same guy from Four Lions, great acting, right?). It really brings the whole franchise into a new light. I thought it had a great main plot and a brilliant sub-plot with Ahmed taking on a Mark Zuckerberg role, bringing up questions of modern-day internet security and government surveillance, cue a mention of Edward Snowdon. With these themes constantly being part of everyone's daily lives (IE the hack on a terrorists phone not long ago which apple wanting nothing to do with), they are as key as they were when they would of started shooting. It had the unbelievable (in a good way) action scenes and fights that we know and love from Bourne, and some interesting new characters, which if they chose make another one, could develop further. **Spoiler** my only real issue is, why did Bourne not guess Smith would be wired up? He was happy tackling all the constant CCTV and cyber surveillance, but couldn't tell the guy he was smacking was a bugged? Hmmm.... haaha. I loved it anyway.

TL;DR - it's everything you want and expect from this lot, with some interesting sub-plots that comment on modern day social media and cyber security.

Tbh, I'm not sure why I'm worrying about spoilers, there are more in this video haha.

Yeah... I agree with you! I loved it! The good old Bourne!

Ben you could have removed the deep Dream 'subplot' and it would have had no bearing on the film. The original Bourne (car chase in a mini?) was a classic. This was boring.

sidequel? what's wrong with spinoff?

It really wasnt great. I also found Vikander more like cast because she wanted to play in it or they went with currently popular name (she had just won oscar). I think her role (CIA 2nd in command) should have been given to older woman (older than her). That type of position should be held someone who is more experienced. When you think in the past when Joan Allen was playing CIA commander (mid 40s woman).

Is Robbie really stroking his beard in the thumbnail?
Has Robbie actually started watching the films he reviews?

This reviewer gave Ghostbusters 4/5.. so this guy's tastes are radically different to mine. None the wiser about seeing Star Trek Beyond or Bourne this weekend. Please only put Kermode on this channel :(

Apparently they only finished the film six weeks ago. Very troubled production. Likely to be the last

The same as a credenza of editing but with more herringbones.

I zoned out about 5 mins in to this review. Not sure if they liked it or not. To be honest all the Bourne films have blurred in to one to me (except the Renner one which I didn't see). All are well made but ultimately pretty forgettable. I couldn't tell you what the story of each one was. Something about secret info, clandestine CIA ops, Matt Damon hurting people and Moby? I'll still see it but it will just get added to the blurry homogeneous Bourne thing.

Robbie Collin's reviews are insightful and his points are argued clearly. Now if someone can get him to flap his hands around this channel's audience would be appeased.

Sorry but this is not a review, Robbie is just telling us various plots in the film. We hardly ever get a sense of what he thought about the film.

Saw it today. Nothing new here. Same old action and plot lines. Hollywood are running out of ideas.

They didn't want to see how Bourne fitted into today's world. They wanted to make some cash. It was a terrible movie. Tired and boring. A far cry from the original and best of the lot.

awful film. why bother spending 11mins talking about it?!?!
