The level of competition has significantly increased with the massive infusion of foreign money and foreign players into the league over the past 10-15 years. The media talk about United like someone who had an incredible stock in the 90’s and 2000’s but haven’t accepted market conditions changed over a decade ago causing their stock to decline over time.

Ten Hag should only be sacked once he has a replacement for Rashford, Eriksen and Bruno in the side, these pundits are former footballers who know the tactical side of the game and are still not acknowledging the fact that the lack of pace in the midfield is what makes Erik hesitant of playing a high line at times with De Ligt and Martinez, we are almost there the games at Crystal Palace and Southampton were a glimpse of the football we are capable of, we just need a few decent players which suit this style, the return of Malacia will give more stability to the defence, we should be looking for De Jong/Veerman as conductors and an agile Defensive midfielder like Ederson/Zubimendi type anchor in the midfield, sell Bruno, Maguire and Rashford (the former two were Ole signings primarily for a counter attacking system), the midfield is the most critical part of the puzzle and we are very close to solving it, all the goals we have conceded have been primarily down the left or in quick counter attacks, where the midfielders did not have the legs to track back or tackle, unfortunately none of the current bunch Mainoo, Eriksen, Bruno, Casemiro have the combination of discipline with agility, Ugarte is also vulnerable to a press but his tackling is a strength, we should cut out the background noise and focus on this rebuild, we will have patches of very poor results like Tottenham and Liverpool, but we must be patient because it is inevitable when some of these players are being asked to play a style alien to them.
