There was a petition to not get him in that got a fair few signatures, but Sullivan has never really cared what the fans want. It’s why, under his stewardship we have been subjected to BFS, Moyes twice and now JLo. Pragmatic managers. I don’t even know what to say, but you watch Sullivan, these pundits and everyone else put the boots into us for wanting Moyes out now. We just wanted to enjoy our football, something we have been absolutely robbed of for a long time. I am neither a West Ham nor a Chelsea fan. But I saw the match. Horrible defence from West Ham. Wan Bisaka playing very advanced and leaving acres of space behind him. West Ham had no defence. Everytime Chelsea advanced into the West Ham half, it seemed they would be scoring. No energy from West Ham. Pathetic and sad.

West Ham don't usually play 5 at the back and for some reason we played with 2 CB (1 DM dropping in) and wing backs today and it obviously didn't work. Using a DM to cover as a CB, meant we left gaps for Chelsea to expose in the middle. We got caught out in the fullback position from pushing up too much.

Im not a west ham, or Chelsea fan, but people need to calm down a little. Every single season we hear football fans either going way over the top about how good their teams are, or way over the top about how rubbish they are. We all know how much things change throughout the season. Last season spurs thought they had won the league at this point, but then finished fifth, and Newcastle looked odds on to get top after a good start to the league, and smashing PSG at home 4-1 (or whatever it was) but then all the players ended up in the treatment room for the whole season. I always wait until at least xmas before trying to figure out whos going to finish where in the league.

Your not just paying what a player is worth. You’re also paying what a player is worth to that club. Jack Grealish is a decent player. Maybe worth £50 million at the time he was bought. But he was also the star player at Villa, so you need to pay them to lose him, which turned out to be worth another £50 million. Caicedo was probably a £30 million player when Brighton sold him. We didn’t need to let him go, and he was our player of the season. Liverpool were crazy to offer £70 million over his worth, but Tony Bloom is a stone cold gangster and was like ‘£100 million or no dice!’ Chelsea then lost their marbles and chucked in another £15 mil, just because they knew he loved Chelsea as a boy and they couldn’t stand losing to Liverpool. So Tony Bloom took their pants down, but where else are you going to find a Caicedo? There’s only one and if you want him, you gotta pay the piper!

he was definitely worth more than 30m, that kind of money is what West Ham payed for Fulkrug and less than Brighton paid for Rutter. He was probably a 70m player from what he had shown, arguably 80-85m based on what he could do in future. Still a drastic overpay but if he plays for Chelsea for 9 years, thats an insane investment. He had a rough probably 5 games to start after a drawn out transfer saga and no pre season, since then he has been nothing short of incredible but his price tag will always overpower whatever he does. Maybe they could have gotten him for 85/90m had they made that offer early and tied up the transfer but they tried playing the waiting game and it back fired. I highly doubt the owners regret their investment, cos 80m or 110m, regardless, those price are never about making profit on him for Chelsea.

@@scottyh1238Caicedo had only been playing in the Prem for a couple of years, that’s why I put a £30 million price tag on him. Also, he’s not a striker or winger. Yves Bissouma is as good a player and I think we sold him for £25 mil, but Caicedo’s price was drastically inflated because of the length of his contract he had left, the competition to sign him, and the drastic inflation in the amount clubs would pay for players after the Grealish transfer. I agree that he was looking like a £50 million player that last season at Brighton, but a couple of years prior and what most people call a £50 million player now, would objectively have been a £30 million player. A lot of factors came together to make Caicedo the biggest transfer fee in Premier League history, and I personally think only Tony Bloom could have pulled that off at that price, from a club the size of Brighton. Caicedo is beginning to really find his feet at Chelsea, but only Messi or Ronaldo are ever going to live up to a what people expect of a £100 million price tag. But the reality of these price tags is that they don’t just reflect what the player is worth. They reflect many factors. Even the timing of the transfer. I guess £50 would be a fair price for Caicedo. For me, Bissouma was almost a carbon copy of Caicedo, regarding the role he did at Brighton, and he was even better at dictating the play. Caicedo is slightly better on the ball though.
