As a Chinese native speaker, I would say that, in the scene where he saves the girl, Jason's Chinese was actually pretty good. His pronunciation was a lot better than most non-Chinese speaking actors.

I found what he did for that girl incredibly heartwarming and strangely refreshing. I'm not used to those kinds of actions from his type of movie character. Thanks to this, I thought his death actually was pretty sad despite thinking I wouldn't care if he died when the movie started

I agree. and in the end he died for love. I found that particularly sad, because if he hadn't refused to get on the boat, he would have been reunited with his wife.

@@MonicaKalidai it's kinda ironic. The last movie I saw that actor in, his character enjoyed killing kids (he's the main villain in The Patriot in case you needed me to explain what I'm talking about)

Oh yes, Tavington was definitely one of the meaner villains Jason played.

I feel like either Harris threw the girl on the boat to save her while he ate a flying piece is way better than he stood there and took it. The whole time he was there talking with the girl i was like: "come on you fking tease, when will he die. I know it coming, do it already"

I feel like Harris' death in Skyfire was really unnecessary. Sure, he needed to be punished for his ignorance, but instead of swiftly killing him off he should've been rescued and then actually held accountable. Plus, the fact that he stayed on the island for his wife, but then his wife was rescued and he wasn't, Idk, that just made me really annoyed and sad. He should've been allowed to reunite with his wife, and then punished together in some other more meaningful way than death. Love the movie overall though :)

I wonder if something like this was the original plan for this movie, because there is a poster that shows both Harris and his wife covered in dirt and blood holding each other - clearly after they have been rescued. Too bad it never happened in the movie, this would have made it so much better.

You're right, his death does seem kind of rushed and sudden. Maybe they had to do that bc of scheduling conflicts or something. I do love this movie, but it would've been so much better if they both survived.

It may have been rushed but he found redemption before his death and the fact his wife finds, (and probably adopts) the girl was a beautiful way to conclude his character's story even he wasn't alive by the conclusion
