It’s no coincidence that this song is very haunting. Jason Isbell will always be one of my favorites.

"Do the dead belive in ghosts" IMHO THE songwriter of his generation. "Over encouraged, only children" points to trying too hard for "success", getting entangled in things one shoulden't - like drugs. "Only Children" is about two childhood friends - one going on to fame, the other going "the wrong way", and eventually dying ("hearse was idling in the parking lot"). And JI has lots of songs, just as good as this one. I've gotten to see Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit 3 times live. All three times was phenomenal...

I went to college in Florence while Jason was still playing in town, unfortunately I missed all of that (one of my biggest regrets), but the mobile street line really hits home with me because I've had a lot of time in the exact same spot where I found myself wondering what the hell I'm doing.

Over-encouraged in the sense that they are afraid of nothing and therefore into what they shouldn't be. Thats my take. The piano version was fantastic.

In this vast world with all different kinds of people in it, you can't fathom that a person hasn't listened to a band member's solo work?? There are many bands I enjoy, but I haven't checked out members' side projects/solo efforts. That's my bad, but it's reality.
@tompatchak8706 Жыл бұрын
@@ijustneedmyself yes, that is correct. I know people that know Jason solo work because it’s later and I don’t know the drive-by truckers songs, but I don’t know any drive-by truckers fans that don’t know any , even one song, but the guy who made really great music with a band that they love. Drive-by truckers fans are very rapid and the following is solid, so I have a hard time believing this at all. No, the new album is far and away completely different than Jason’s earlier work, so maybe that’s what he meant. I know people that follow the band, American Aquarium, and their lead singer put out two or three Solo records, and all those fans know about those albums. Drive-by truckers, lead man Patterson hood has put out three solo albums, and I know a lot of people that know those
