So a fella asked me what kind of music I write and I said, "It's sort of Acoustic Country Folk Pop Rock". He said, "Oh, Americana, kinda like Jason Isbell." I said, "Who?" He said, "Seriously?" That was two weeks ago and I can't stop listening to this man's songs. Unbelievable.

I love the 400 unit, but these stripped down versions of the songs with him and a guitar are so, so, so stinking good. I'm not ashamed in the least when I say how thankful I found this mans music years ago. What an amazing song writer and guitar player. I guarantee he will go down in history one day among John Prine, Bob Dylan, and the many other great country and rock and roll song writers.

He's one hell of a guitar player. I saw a younger fan of a different band mention that Isbell is a singer/songwriter and didn't have the chops to hang with said band. He sat in with that band at a festival. I proceeded to politely explain to the kid just how ridiculous his statement was. Isbell played that red eye Les Paul during the sit in. Him and Jimmy Herring were trading licks and doing call and response. Jason flat out blew my mind man. Sweetwater 420 Festival with Widespread Panic if you care to check it out.

Apropos that he sings this song solo, with just a guitar. It really pares the song to its core meaning... few songs have struck me with such truth. It's as if Jason understands exactly what is going on in my head. Thank you for putting into words what I often struggled to do.
@Rebecc7653 жыл бұрын
This man knows it. He knows it first hand and all of the pain it entails. His lyrics made me realize anxiety's effects on me I never grasped. Despite the absence of reasons to be afraid, I was. Despite no presence of danger, I felt it. Despite having had significant events, accomplishments and experiences occur in my life, I NEVER enjoyed a damned thing. I never felt happy, proud, satisfied, deserving or worthy. Why did I do any of it if nothing resembling even a small feeling of worthiness was possible?
@loucat2779 Жыл бұрын

This song really hits home for me. I’ve been dealing with it for as long as I can remember, and at the age of 16, it’s really tearing its ugly head. I have to fight my own psyche in order to get up in the mornings and drive to class. Those classrooms become, as he said, burning battlefields. It’s terrifying. Some days it’s as small as a ladybug on a bear’s nose. The next day it’s the bear. Unfortunately today it was the bear and it almost snuffed me out
@tompower5327 жыл бұрын
Hey. Thanks for watching. We all have the bear some days. I felt that way for most of my life but waited till I was 28 and in the hospital to talk to someone. I couldn't believe that just talking to someone every now and then could make me feel so much better and so much more like myself. Feel free to reach out here if you need some resources and good luck with it. We're all fighting the battle.
@mandyinseattle6 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. This might sound trite but i swear by it. Do you meditate 5 mins every day? Do that for 2-3 weeks and you'll feel a subtle shift and maybe you'll do it for 10 mins a day and the difference is subtle but profound. It's helped calm me so much and given me more faith in the universe and that's kind of huge. These are rough times, and that doesn't help. There are as many different ways to meditate as there are people and good phone apps. xo
