Dante Exum has actually been a great 3 point shooter this season. 48% for the season, 61.5% for the last 15 games, 80% for the last 5. He was bad in his previous nba seasons but improved massively in the euro league, where he shot 42%

He has the 4th highest percentage in the league with a minimum of 10 attempts - 2nd highest with a minimum of 20! Of course he is assisted on over 90% of these, but it’s a great stat line for a role player. The more I think about it the more ridiculous it is to call him bad 3 point shooter. It’s probably the most unassailable aspect of his game right now!

It's his thing. But the thing is, his breakdowns are pretty spot-on and illuminating. The ranting is just free extra entertainment. I also like that he is merciless on all teams. He has even ripped the Celtics - though only once or twice this year I think, because, well, they have been playing so good. So he seems pretty fair across all the teams I've seen him cover, even though within a given video it may seem like he hates your team.

Kidd makes less than 7 mil per season, Doncic makes over FORTY MILLION THIS SEASON. NBA coaches have ZERO power over DVCP contracted players. The employee making $7.00 an hour doesn't tell the employee making $40 dollars an hour what to do or how to do it. When going into the millions of dollars, that dynamic gap increases exponentially. Kidd understands the NBA business model, and you guys are clueless as to the NBA business model, and apparently, business in general.

All of their screen and rolls the guards just back out and look for a bad three rather that blowing by the 7 footer. that would force tatum to have to guard Irving and Lively at the same time. Instead the defense just switches and the guard just settles for a bad step back 30 footer over a 7 footer with their hand up that is altering the shot.

Literally first possesion ans he is wrong. KP is committed the drop, in this game the mavericks game plan was to make use of that and shoot the 3 to force KP to the bench. In the first possesion KP is committed to the drop, so to punish him Luka opts for the jumper (he should have stepped back further for 3), we see this happen several times where the ball gets kicked out to 3 point shooter. But the reason the plan didn't work is because the everybody outside Luka and Tim went 0/10 in the 1st and shot a total of 26% on 3s in the game.

Luka struggles when Brown covers him - Luka make his money by being bigger than most guys defending him, and by putting them to sleep with his pace changes, but Jaylen is twice as fast, about ten times as agile, and stronger, and he doesnt check out when he's defending the ball. Luka bails out of plays earlier against Brown, especially if there's help coming, bc he gets tied up more regularly against Brown than anyone I've seen him play against. Like, obviously Luka still gets his, he's not deniable, but he doesnt play free against the Celtics - either bc he's getting dogged by Brown, or bc he's burning clock to try and get a favorable shift before he starts the offense.

I'm a big Celtics fan, and love their defensive starting five plus Horford. But that game was a joke, Mavericks just kept shooting threes even though they weren't going in and they were having success with Lively and Luca in the pick and roll. Good offense is about continually exploiting the defense until they adjust(which the Celtics do very well for the most part) and it felt like the Mavs just decided nah, let's keep chucking it until it goes in. It never did, Celtics played their usual efficient offense in the second half, game over halfway through the fourth. Mazulla adjusts, exploits matchups consistently, lets the game flow decide what his team will do. Kidd rolls the ball out to Luca and Kyrie and says play. That's not winning anything...

You are tripping this video, if you actually watch the game. The offense was creating open shots. No one was making the open shots so luka and kyrie had to play hero ball. They were running all kinds of off ball 4 man and 2 man actions. People didnt make shots, so luka had to keep the mavs in the game with his isolation scoring(which he did quite well considering the defence). Luka got tired so towards the end kyrie finally locked in with his isolation scoring. The offensive gameplan was there, and it was working, but players werent making the open looks kyrie included.

I didn’t see it but the 3’s were not falling and it looks like there were several 2’s on offer that were not taken. Maybe the mavs assist column is too low either due to Kyrie or luka or the team not getting into dunk position when the opportunity arises (or basically because Luka and Kyrie don’t get them involved as much maybe they aren’t expecting the ball. Luka is so great with the ball in his hands. When he is off-ball, on both sides, he's so lazy which is why I will never be in the camp of him being a great PLAYER.
