Funny enough the part 8 unmasked Jason looked absolutely terrifying in the game…They used the exact look but they darkened the makeup and made it slimy looking, in the movie his face looked like soft foam.

VIII face gets a lot of flak, but it has this sad, almost childlike look that fits Jason better than any other I've seen. Their execution was very amateurish sadly, but I could see what they were going for.

I think part of the problem with 8 is the fact it comes after the best Jason look in 7. I don't hate the look in 8 but it's definitely my least favorite unmasked look. Jason's actual look in the film is OK with the mask on he looks to much like swamp thing to me lol. He's always wet and slime covered in 8.

I love the 2009 version of Jason. Hes fast, intelligent and aggressive. The design is amazing.

Face make-up aside, Part 8 is my favorite look for Jason. To me it's the most dark and creepy. He has this night stalker look about him, the pitch white rotten skin against the black clothes with the yellowed mask is a great look to me, and I love that he's perpetually wet because it shows how he's a creature of the lake. He may have a physical body, but I've always thought of Jason as sort of a ghost or a wraith. The later movies kind of softly retcon that Jason is a zombie because he drowned in the lake, even if that's not what actually happens over the course of the movies, but I really like that backstory and I like that he is basically a ghost that haunts the lake, eternally seeking justice for the ways he was neglected and abused in life. To me, the Part 8 design embodies those aspects of his character the best. I even like the weird screams he makes at the end of the film. They're so inhuman and freaky, and they do kind of sound like cries of a scared child, which is ultimately what Jason is. Also, while I will acknowledge the makeup isn't as well done as Part 7, the reason he looks so bad is because his face is melted from acidic toxic waste thrown at it. Presumably he wouldn't have looked like that if his mask came off before the acid hit him.

Jason is more of a revenant (which is someone brought back from the dead in order to seek revenge on those who wronged them in life) than a zombie.

I really like the look in Jason Goes to Hell. His flesh is growing around and over the mask almost like the mask is his skull. He is becoming the hockey mask.

My two favorite designs are far from the best movies, but they are part 7, and oddly the design in jason goes to hell. I liked how you could see his bones in 7, and how the mask looked fused to his head in the hell one

I agree that the remake was impressive, but I think it's mostly for a reason people don't really realize or talk about. While Jason absolutely is scarier and should be, the Friday the 13th remake gave us a taste of what people need to be doing more with Jason. As much as people say he's iconic and he is my favorite slasher, he's ultimately not seen as much more than a Michael Myers ripoff. By design. They tried making him stand out with a different backstory and it occasionally comes up for plot reasons, usually just reminding us he drowned or reminding him of his mom, but it never amounts to much for him as a character. It distracts him for a moment in between him just silently stalking and killing and him being defeated. What needs to happen in my opinion is for people to focus on what makes Jason different from Michael. Jason is a tortured boy isolated in an abandoned camp he's made his home. A territorial survivor who doesn't understand how the real world works anymore. Michael is an empty husk of a being who kills simply because. While I like Rob Zombie's version of Michael to an extent in trying to give him more of a character, I ultimately feel that shouldn't be Michael's place to explore. It should be Jason's. Jason Voorhees is a character. Michael Myers is a force of destruction. What the remake did is show us a side of Jason we never saw before. Not only smarter, faster, and scarier, but also more emotional. He kidnaps a woman because she reminds him of his mom, forcing him to confront emotions he doesn't understand. I really want to see a future installment focus more on Jason as a character. Delve more into his psyche, have characters experiment would new avenues to combat, confront, or maybe even try to reason with him. Have him struggle with things, have him grow and develop. I have so many ideas for ways they could explore this character and admittedly, over time it may lead him less from a horror direction and more into some kind of thriller/drama, but if people would be open to seeing Jason do more than just kill and die, I really think it could work.

My favorite look is sackhead Jason from part 2. I've always liked the idea of him just being some crazy, super strong, deformed mountain man. The hockey mask feels like a branded look, like he's playing a character rather than just some crazy guy you'd meet in Deliverance.

When the mask first showed up in 1982, I don’t think anyone thought of it as a brand yet. That happened after median movie goers responded remarkably well to another masked movie slasher a-la Micheal Myers and Leatherface, from which Halloween costume companies made bank selling cheap-o hockey masks.

i love how tall and lumber jason is on FvJ. he's basically the frankenstein of the slasher genre so i always liked that look for him. it's my favorite design for the character along Part 7.

Maskless Jason in Part 3D all the way!! It is by far the best (aside from kid Jason in Part 1) because it doesn't look like a zombie or a monster; he looks like a maniacal, deformed psycho - in a realistic way.

Number 6 is the best movie and best design. the beginning is the best too. he gets struck by lightning, puts his arm through dudes chest then tommy runs away. he crouches down grabs the mask and the spear/pole and does this awesome turn. such a badass intro!

I read somewhere that someone behind the scenes thought the Stan Winston makeup for part 3 looked “too monstrous” so that’s why it was changed to the one we got. I actually like that look as well, it very terrifying and menacing, sucks that it didn’t get used, regardless it’s a great addition to Stan Winston’s catalog .

I’m very happy to see a Jason tier list. For me, as far as live Jason goes, I love part 3’s Jason, he’s a hulking beast. And for undead Jason I always loved part 7 and 6. I do have appreciation for the sack head look though, tough for me to choose I absolutely love these films!

Jason from Freddy vs Jason I would say is the most used Jason design. It was a reference for the remake, it was taken into MKX and Multiversus. The brown coat over the blue shirt, chain around the neck and hockey mask is the barebones of Jason’s design as of right now.

Not technically canon but Savini Jason is unmatched design wise, the black mask, the glowing orange eyes, the chains, the fire shirt, the devil pitchfork. All comes together to make the most fire yet cold design.

I would guess the reason why they went with a different make up when it comes to part three is that the original make up looked cool but perhaps they wanted something that looked closer to the shape of Jason’s head in Friday 13th but just aged up

My favorite look is definitely either part 7 or or the remake. I love how his face looks when he gets unmasked in part 7 and how it shows his exposed bones. With the remake I like how different the look is my only complaints are the overall unmasked design and how small the mask is on him. The rest of it I think is great.

Personally part 4 and 2009 are tied as my favorite Jason’s. Both are simple but scary in their portrayal. Part 2 and 3 are really goofy but quick, but Ted white cut the shit and turned Jason into a vile man killing machine. And the reboot took the intensity from part 4 and added an extra layer of preparedness, god is he scary. I understand the love for part 7, but Kane is just not scary, at all, in any of these movies. Too slow, too weak, total bafoon. And it’s a shame considering how cool that part 7 look is!

I don't like him with all the rotted flesh around his head and mask I think he looks cooler as go figure the mommas boy look. At 14:31 and 2:26 Looks cool asf. Dont like him with hair/partial hair on the head either, bald jason is the best.

Am I the ONLY one who digs Part 2 Jason?! I can't remember the last influencer who talked about/ranked that look fondly. I thought THAT version was the scariest because it was perhaps the most realistic for the type of man Jason was- hillbilly AF, out in the middle of nowhere, no real education/intelligence, etc. I could see that being the nutjob I'd encounter while out in the woods. But next up is parts 3, 4, and reboot.

Part 9 Jason Goes To Hell only in Friday The 13th The Game RIP showed what he would've looked like unmasked, unlike the film itself. Now he has been swapping bodies this whole time they finally took him out, which should have been at the end of the film. FBI knew Jason Voorhees was unstoppable when ambushed him.

Why does no one include dream sequence Jason from Part 5 in these? I love the visual of the worms coming out of his eyes. Hell, NECA even makes a figure of this version of Jason, alongside a seperate one of Roy, to disquinguish the 2 as seperate characters in Part 5. Someone had to design and create it and someone had to wear the costume and film it, so to me it 100% counts and deserves to be included in these lists. As a comparison Michael Myers technically being in Halloween 3 doesn't count as that's just footage from H1 playing on a TV in the background and not something designed specifically for that movie and filmed separately. But since dream Jason in Part 5 fits that criteria I feel it deserves to be included.

7 is still by far my favourite but as part of the overall look I really like the stature of Jason in Jason in Jason. His body acting isn’t near as good as Hodder’s but his size menace to the character. I still wish Hodder got the role. Same with the remake.

Pretty close to mine but I would swap part 3 and part 4, part 3 look is more iconic for me and is essentially the base for part 4 so to me, part 3 is top tier with part 7

These might be a little controversial but part 5 is one of my favorite looks, part 7 is an overrated look, and the part 2 look annoys me. I know it’s a small feature to dislike, but the fact that there is only one eyehole drives me crazy.
