Sometimes I think it’s also important to see where a player has come from in determining if they are a hall of famer. I don’t know if Edelman deserves to be in the HOF but the fact that a MAC qb drafted in the seventh round as a slot receiver is a Super Bowl MVP blows my mind and it’s stuff like that which makes me love watching football.

Tyrone Shoelaces No Pro Bowls or First Team All-Pro selections, never lead the league in any major receiving categories, and isn’t THE option on the Pats (that goes to Gonk). Edelman is a good player, but compared to his contemporaries (Fitz, Julio, AB, Hopkins) and the fact he plays only in the slot (Fitz, Julio, AB and Hopkins can play both the slot and the wide) he is not a Hall of Famer. Compare him to the most recent WR’s who got into Canton, and to his modern era contemporaries and you’ll see the difference.

A HOF Player is one who was outstanding at his position. The Top 3-5% of Players at that position. So the question is what are the skill sets at the Slot Position; and what are his stats versus all other Slot Receivers. The Slot guys are the chain movers. They catch the short passes that don't put up big yards, so yardage is unimportant, total receptions are. Slot receivers advance the ball and move the chains. So how many receptions does he have? How many 1st downs does he have? In the big games, how reliable is he? Does he step up his game and make the big catches and win the game, or does he wilt in the lights? These are the questions you ask in order to determine if he is a HOF Slot Reciever. Welker and Edelman have been leaders in the NFL. Always in the top 5 receivers in the NFL. If they were black there would be no question. As Deion Sanders has been saying for years: "Edelman is one of the best receivers in the NFL, but because he is white he is not recognized as such."

I'm a big pats fan, and I love Julian Edelman, but I don't believe he's a hall of famer. He's a great player yes, but like they said in the video a hall of fame player is just different. You don't have to question their legacy or move the line just to put them in. It doesn't help that he never made a pro bowl or an all pro team either. However, I do believe Gronk is a hall of famer. He was consistently great until the injuries piled on.

I have to say no to the Hall of Fame for Mr. Edelman. I am a Patriots fan from New England and have watched almost all there games for the past 35 years. It's easy to get caught up in the moment. Deion Branch is a Super Bowl MVP. Troy Brown is my favorite Patriot of all time. Wes Welker is a Patriot legend. Kevin Faulk was so clutch.... I could go on and on with great Patriot offensive player who have Super Bowl rings and will not be in the Hall of Fame. There was only one. Edelman might not get a bust in the HOF, but those balls he caught in the NFL's biggest moments over and over again should be. Or the jerseys he wore when he helped write some of the league's biggest chapters.

Because of his post season success he can be on the ballot but he shouldn’t make it. Being on the hof ballot is a real accomplishment. It’s like Mark Schlereth said, he was a top 50 finalist but he couldn’t get in.

Edelman is a tough choice for the Hall because he plays on the greatest team/organization of the era. His greatness wouldn't stand out if he got traded tho. Welker wasn't the same without Tom and Bill. He ain't no Welker and he ain't no Troy Brown either. So he's a clutch football player in big moments. He's basically the Steve Kerr of football. But basketball hall of fame criteria is different so Steve would be a Hall Of Famer. I'm A Pats fan BTW..

If you compared a left tackle to a center, people would think you're dumb. Yes they are both lineman, but no, they do not play the same position. JE11 is a slot receiver and people are comparing him to wide outs. If you compare Jules to other slot receivers then he's a no doubt HOFer.

Statistically no....but if you had to build a playoff team from anyone in the league from the last 10 seasons....are you picking anyone else for the slot? I wouldn't. Also, he has made plays that are some of the biggest moments or games that directly lead to winning Super Bowls...plural....with out Julian, they are probably 4-5 in Super Bowls....not sure that gets him in the HoF....but it gets him closer than a lot of guys with better stats....like Greg Jennings.

Why we forgetting his punt return stats???? Hes a true champion and will be a thought of as a possible HOF when its all said and done. Greg Jennings not returning no punts. Greg first time I seen you hating like this lol.

It is not about numbers or pro bowls with Edelman. If you take him out of the last 3 Super Bowl winning games the New England Patriots are 3-6 as opposed to 6-3 in those games. That is a fact. If Edelman isn't a Hall a Famer fine I can live with that but his ability to run every single route in a Wide Receiver route tree, his elite quickness and ability to beat every coverage thrown at him and most importantly his clutch toughness and ability to make a play in the most crucial situations whenever his number is called. Edelman no question should be remembered as a NFL Legend and without question the best receiver over a multi year span the Patriots have ever had. Welker had the numbers but when it came to clutch moments he cant tie Edelman's shoes

In Edelman’s credit he wasn’t never really the primary target. He was behind Moss, Welker, and a few others. If he was targeted like these good wide receivers who to say he wouldn’t match up. Plus who can guard him.

he was a college quarterback drafted in the 7th round did u really think he was gonna be first option receiver from the start of his career. And they had wes welker in the slot edelman at the start was mainly a punt returner. and with gronk getting 20 touchdowns a year he was never gonna be the nr.1 endzone target.

Edelman hasn't even started a single full season in his career. He's had 1 great season, that being 2016 and that's only if you account for the playoffs too, his regular season numbers (in, mind you, his BEST season statistically) are decent. 1100 Yds, 3 td's.
