Agreed, their peers are at fault also. I attribute it to the "nobody wants to be Charles Barkley" syndrome. Look at Shaq and Charles interactions. I recall a Jordan story where Ewing and Charles couldn't sit at the champions table. A guy of KD or LeBron caliper knew they had to do whatever it takes to get a ring and it's sad. Jordan stopped alot of beast from getting rings. Personally, I don't think any less of those guys.

“What is legacy? Legacy is something you talk about when a player is retired and gone from the game and look back over their career. People talking about a guy’s legacy while he’s STILL playing? It’s just TV talk” - Oscar Robertson People were using the word ‘Legacy’ when talking about LeBron during his third season in the league at age 20. I’ve heard people say Ben Simmons’ ‘legacy’ took a hit with his poor performances against the Celtics this post season, in his FIRST active season. It’s absurd

Replace legacy obsessed 'stars' with media members, which creates the masses(average/casual fan)to ignore the greatness on display. Instead, hyper-focus on what this and that player doesn't do right according to how to win (ways to win change in season, throughout a series and of different eras) in their own viewpoint. Go watch highlights and games of those overlooked greats of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s and see what im talking about. Many had great ability that should've been enjoyed instead of criticized

Average passes per 100 possession in NBA are actually up. Stop making up BS. Magic Johnson before the draft said that he'll only play for the Lakers because they had Kareem. Then he got the Coach fired. People keep looking at past with rose-tinted glasses. MJ punched Kerr because he was playing tough defense on him in practice. Pippen sat out last possession of a playoff game because Phil Jackson didn't design it for him.

Watch a game from 70s. 80s. 90s. 00s. Then watch a game now. It just isn't as good. Players individually are great now as in any era. But the GAME, the COMPETITION, just isn't good any more. Player movement is the main reason. It's going the same way as football (soccer). Only a very small number of teams can ever win and it hurts the game. NBA.....be careful of the future. Be very careful.

Getloose360 they where still some of the best players alive for the next 3-4 years. And that doesn’t change the fact that it still changed the nba. That’s why Lebron left to Miami. Boston started the modern day super teams, but the league has always been dominated by just a few teams. Celtics won 9 rings in the 1960s...Lakers and Celtics won 8 out of 10 in the 80s...Bulls and Rockets won 8 out of 10 in the 90s...Lakers and Spurs won 7 in the 2000s... and the 2010 has been Lebron or the Warriors winning most of them... this is literally how it’s always been.

No, this was how it was done and has done for years, Danny did it trough trades, West did it by stealing players all over the league, LeBron and Bosh are the first example in history of female athletes that make a deal to join an organization because they weren't able to win on their own.

Wait didn’t Lebron lose to the Magic the season after Boston won the title and his team was the number 1 seed that won 66 games? Wait didn’t Dwight Howard Orlando Magic Dethrone the reigning champ Boston Celtics then beat Lebron despite Lebron team having the higher seed and home court advantage?😂😂😂😂😂They won 1 ring and they were all over 30. So many teams won 1ring that never started anything. Lebron started this because he could not lead his team back to the finals because it was no longer like in 2007 when you have to just beat 2 separate 41-41 win teams and a 53 win team that won the finals 3 prior years with a different coach and a player that won defensive player of the year 4 separate times that was no longer on the roster. Jordan lost to the pistons that made 3 finals in a row and won 2 back to back. The first 2 season he faced them he had 2 rookies that didn’t start no regular season games, a rookie coach and a player that was just starting for his 2nd season and none of them were great scorers but the pistons had 4 hall of famers Dantley, Rodman, Thomas, Dumars. The next 2 times he faced them in the elimination game his 2nd best teammate gave him 2 total points in 45 minutes played and his name is Scottie Pippen. In game 6 elimination 1989 Pippen played the first minute got an elbow and never returned. The next season Jordan had a rookie coach again and his 2nd best teammate in 1990 Pippen said he woke up with a migraine for game 7 played 44 minutes made 1 field goal and had 2 points. The other starters besides Jordan shot horrible as well the highest of them shot 33%. But Jordan didn’t skip town. They went home in the summer got better and beat them the next season sweeping the two time back to back reigning champs. Isiah Thomas had just turned 30 just 20 days prior to the series starting Rodman was 29 and Dumars was 27. All 3 of them are hall of famers and they were back to back reigning champs. 4 of them should be hall of famers or possibly 5 but for sure Mark Aguirre who has 18000+ career points with a 20 point per game average on 48% shooting plus 5 rebounds and 3 assist and 3 all star appearances and the dude had 4 seasons where scored 25 or more ppg and Bill Laimbeer made it to the all star game 4 times. That is a much better team than the Celtics Lebron faced and their core was younger. Dwight Howard could beat the Celtics without teaming up with all stars but Lebron couldn’t and he couldn’t beat Dwight but he is allegedly the goat. Lol. But Jordan didn’t jump ship on his teammates they all got better by practicing something that The new Isaiah Thomas said Lebron teams don’t do and Jordan’s bulls won!

He was strictly half court only and could not keep up with any of the Bulls running the floor. Compare that to the 1987 Finals. And Vlade Divac, Jabbars replacement at center was still a baby in the league.

Supreme Legacy the league made zones legal primarily because of Shaq not because of Iverson. Before the Lakers 2000s dynasty, Zone defenses were technically still illegal. After their 3 peat, the league made some changes that allowed teams to play zones inside which allowed weak side defenders to be able to help without actually having to hard double in the paint. It had nothing to do with Iverson.

Sheldon Walker Not true, Draymond would be moved for LeBron. The number of assist he'd accumulate would be ridiculous. Imagine Steph, Klay literally coming off screens and designed plays and defense forced to dbl down on LeBron or give up a wide open shot to Klay or Steph. Or keep Javel because he's cheaper and more fitting quick lobs and rim protection. He'd avg 15+ assist and most likely out the game in the 3rd. Let alone the extra energy all 3 will conserve with less effort offensively.

Good points on both sides. This is definitely Houston's style and playoff basketball's always been more iso heavy, but on a broader scale the media has encouraged stars putting up big stat lines even when it harms the team. Easier said than done but the coaches need to be much firmer in implementing proper systems, and as a head coach you cannot accept your leaders slacking on defence so they can boost their offensive numbers. They've definitely got to shoulder more responsibility there.

You don't hear players talking about legacy. That's a media thing imposed on players. From the beginning of their careers, media starts talking about building their legacy, and that everything they do is geared towards building that. What Magic and Bird were talking about competing - not building their official record. When you go out there and do what you do the best that you can, when your career is done, it'll speak for itself.

This is crazy when you have 3 pros who’ve actually played the game having to go back and fourth and explain things with a commentator whose never played. It’s crazy

None of players want to be Barkley, Malone, Ewing, Stockton. Because they will never win the conversation down the line. So they are willing to be the second fiddle . Worst case scenario is Durant. In his prime he left a team in conference finals to join the team he lost too. It was a punk move. It's why he was shocked when people didn't fall at his feet when he won his first ring. People didn't feel like he earned it. Because he didn't It's no where as good of ball in 80s and 90s

The 2 best players in today’s nba only have rings because of free agency! They had one finals appearance before free agency and never even made it back to the nba finals until free agency. That has ruined the nba them jumping teams and teaming up with all the super stars to win rings. GSW won a ring through working hard as a team together they also lost together. Jordan’s Bulls won rings through working hard as a team together after they had been losing together.

No, the creation of superteams and superstar players joining up is ruining the NBA. When everybody is going to the big market teams and only playing in the big markets like the Lakers, Warriors, Rockets and etc. Small market teams like my New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz Indiana Pacers Charlotte Hornets bucks and others cannot compete. I miss the old days when guys like Juilus Irving, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, John Stockton Gary Payton Magic Johnson and etc used to want to beat each other and they did not join up and play with each other and small market teams could actually compete and their was true parity in the league. There's only like eight really good teams in the league that the NBA media really covers and talks about while the rest of the league is ignored.

when the media starts saying that LeBrons legacy will be ruined if he loses this series or nit picking the Warriors like they are supposed to go undefeated for 6 straight years, like wtf, so winning 3 rings and going to the finals 8 times means nothing? or going to 3 straight finals winning 2 of them isnt special? like according to the media every player needs to put up 50 points every playoff game and win 7 titles in a row to not "choke"

In my opinion, it should not be all about rings to determine who is the best player. When the media asks what is Lebron's greatest playoff game -- you will get a lot of different responses going all the way back to the series versus the Chauncey Billups, Ba... Ba.. Ba.. Ba.... Ben Wallace (lol) and Richard Hamilton DETROIT PISTONS....coming Forward thru the Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce BOSTON CELTICS.[the infamous "no regard for human life DUNK" series]...to beating the Pacers team when Wade and Bosh was hurt....George, West, Hibbert....INDIANA PACERS.....to beating Harden, Westbrook and Durant OKC THUNDER to get the first title after the Miami Heat meltdown [which folks forget that Heat team had chemistry issues....1st year together, and there was some slight confusion as to whose team it was...WADE or LEBRON....the following year, Wade conceded that it was Lebron's team....but Wade was introduced last during team introductions at the start of games --- media has flipped this into Lebron's meltdown series....but in actuality, that Heat team did not have battier and allen and others that were needed to resolve chemistry issues]..........and then there is the 1 to 3 comeback versus the Curry, Thompson and Green 73 win GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS......... The list goes on and on and on and that's not counting this year's crazy run.....of 40 point games, buzzer beaters and assists [leads all players in points and assists in the 2018 Playoffs] and three triple doubles and probably three or four near triple doubles. All that being said, if Lebron never wins another championship, his durability and performance and the STATS he is compiling alone, is extraordinary and GOAT worthy. I will not list out the NBA Records he has and is breaking on his own [i.e., Most NBA top five MVP Voting, Most First Team All NBA, Most NBA Player of Weeks, Most NBA Player of Months, etc...etc...] - trust me, the list is LONG But to me, when he passes Kareem Abdul Jabbar 38,000+ record and I believe goes over 40,000 career points scored.....that is a DROP THE MIC MOMENT that criics simply should not be allowed to discount. Not to mention he is already the All Time Playoff scoring leader. Somehow the narrative stays on rings, which is a team thing......but the scoring and STATS that are being accumulated will not be able to continued to be ignored once Mr. Lebron James...passes Kareem and then does the unthinkable and scores 40,000 career points.

I never got the argument about AAU and people not competing hard because they know the person lol it sounds like old people talk. I go at everyone hard friends or foes. It's not like if you beat someone they will just stop being friends. The old players just love the drama of people not liking each other. And they ball the new players dramatic smh.

devilson14321 wanting to beat instead of play with another player creates the best competition. You gotta have ego involved or otherwise you get "if I can't beat him, join him" players...........not good.

WHen houston was struggling against the warriors Jim Jackson said CP3 and James harden are not steve nash when it comes to making players around them better. Then here Jones and house are like its the game today and mobley was like "if steve nash and mark price was here" , i love when people straight up say hey if the other guys were better it would look different.
