Is Russell Westbrook being truthful though? Its one thing saying it, but does his history confirm it. Wasn't Westbrook the same guy who responded to "critics" telling him Rubio was cooking him in the playoffs last year by going into the next game to try to silence (satisfy) these critics.

Westbrook can't win with the media. He literally does EVERYTHING you want your franchise guy to do. Everything. The man has single handedly kept OKC relevant until PG's arrival... not just his PHYSICAL arrival, but his arrival as a legit MVP caliber player. Westbrook is the one guy you'd think would leave OKC or any small market to play in NYC or whatever, but he's the one guy you never doubt. He's loyal, works hard, loves his teammates, and wants to win. I'm not sure what else you can ask of a man, not just in sports but in all aspects of life.

what russ is doing with passing is amazing he has like 130 more assists than harden Harden only plays offense and is in a system where he has the ball 80% of the time. tons of guys with that usage rate could get 30 a night. and whats sad is he has played in 8 more games than russ and has a 37% higher usage rate than russ and has about 100 less assists!!! And he gets easy ones to pick and roll ones or just quick passing to a guy who jacks a 3. while guys like simmons and russ give guys free buckets. and check stats the guys closest to russ who have played in 14 more games will have like 60 less then him and it aint close. He is also the HIGHEST RATED DEFENSIVE PG IN THE LEAGUE RIGHT NOW. And his either been #1 or #2 all year in steals next to pg13. his shooting is only down because missed all off season and pre season

Whitlock is ridiculous btw; to say that he gets the same amount of criticism as Westbrook is ludicrous. The only reason a journalist would catch criticism would because said journalist is putting out some craziness. The spotlight in terms of eyes on product doesn't compare when comparing articles/videos criticizing the superstars vs the average pointing out flawed product to the journalist. Not hatin, but just sayin, Westbrook based on his position in society as a NBA superstar has to shoulder ALOT. Most would prob crumble to include myself if that many eyes were critiquing my actions.

No I don't like the horrible fg% and I still don't like his shot selection...I've been saying this for 5 years if Westbrook tailored his game on either attacking or mid range and shot a 3 when completely open his fg% would consistently stay over 45% which is good for a guard....but besides that Westbrook is playing great championship basketball he's playing championship defense he is learning how to get his assists without holding Paul back....he's learning that hockey assists are some times just as important as the actual assist if Westbrook can play this way for the next 3 to 4 years his fg% will get better and this okc team has a great chance at winning a chip.....but regular season don't matter pg13 gotta show up in the playoffs because in game 6 in Utah Westbrook 45 points pg13 was 3/16fg 0/6 from 3 that won't get it done if this pg13 comes to play in the playoffs OKC has a great chance

No one should care about what other people‘s scrutiny, but WB has got to learn to preserve, defer, and utilize his talents in a more efficient manner. Preserve his stamina late in games and late in the season, and learn to trust his teammates. PG and WB seems to be making this thing work.

Untrue Marcellus. Rap critics can also be ex artists unhappy about the arc of their career. Sports media changed because of even more coverage, no topic seems off limits and social media. Also, you media types are also insecure because you understand that some in KZbin community can do your jobs better than you. Ex athletes like to throw their playing experience in your face yet cant make a clear and coherent point to a subject . The ATHLETE joined the media not the other way around. Once again, your audience is smarter than you think.

The problem is, Westbrook doesn't care for the sake of not caring and is unintelligent. Whereas Jordan, Kobe etc, actually could articulate what their motivations were.

best evidence is tonight: He outscored PG13 by far and came up big BUT they lost against a depleated Pels team: if your MVP candidate and Superstar ist out with an injury - that' s depleated. Even if he said he wants out and the media talks about lack of motivation...etc The last game to me has nothing directly to do with all of the activities around him - the talks about him wanting out have been going for a while and he still has been scoring big.

Of course the criticism gets to him. He was criticized of being selfish, and not passes it, criticized for not being able to keep people playing with him, and now kisses up to PG, been criticized for not being a great shooter, so he decided to take a lot more shots, and now misses even more.

@@lifeisfortheliving2070 so was KD good or not because I'm not sure if you're criticizing him or praising Westbrook. If he didn't matter why and Westbrook is so good why people are mad at him for teaming up with Steph. Paul George is playing great this year and they still not as good as GSW.

What are you smoking. Look up the stats for the Miami finals with OKC. Westbrook played at LEBRON's level. It was the rest of the team that didn't come through. Then in 2013, Westbrook got injured and KD played like trash against the #5 seed Memphis and got smoked 4-1. There is no GOAT in KD. He's never proven himself in the playoffs without Westbrook or the Warriors. The real shame is that KD would rather go join the conference rival instead of beating them. It's not like OKC was getting destroyed by Golden State. They went to game 7 of the conference finals. Instead of getting a cool conference rivalry with Westbrook-KD-Adams vs Green-Curry-Klay... we got this.

@@THE_BEAR_JEW he played well individually but it was to the detriment to the team's chemistry. They played your turn my turn basketball. It was no systematic play, Westbrook always gets stats but it's not for the team's benefit.

Russ is blessed with the gift to not give a f*!!! I love it. He said before he only cares about the win. That's his job...to try and win so that is all he should care about! Good for you Russ! He plays with more heart than anybody in the league from jump ball until final buzzer. Heart of a lion. That's why he will always be my favorite player! He and Kevin were almost tied until.. Kevin joined a team that would allow him to stick his chest out. Championship or no championship, Russ is the man!

Russ is gonna keep facing criticism for his entire career. The only way for him to silence the critics is to win a ring and that will never happen. His high usage, low efficiency style has never been a winning formula in the NBA. Still, I think he's right to ignore the critics. He is fun to watch and plays his style well. If he tried to become a pass first PG then it would probably just result in a massive regression for himself and his team.
