As much as I hate these scenes where Jason is mad at Carly, I also am glad in a way that they didn't end up together, because at the end of the day, this is a soap opera, and romantic couples aren't allowed to be happy on soaps unless they are being sidelined. No matter what, there's always going to be something that comes between them, and if Jason and Carly had worked through this and tried to be together, it would have ended up with Carly betraying Jason over and over again, because it's a soap and they need the drama. Having them be best friends was a way better option in the long run, because everyone with eyes can clearly see that they love each other, and the pain comes from them being in love and not being able to be together, and that's a better fate than most couples get on soaps, tbh

Carly never understood that the more she pushed Jason, the more she was convincing him that the only solution was to leave. In a way she was like Brenda. She made up things in her head and persuaded herself that they would happen. Then she would be shocked when they didn’t
