The people that always stick up for Aj and say that Carly and Jason stole his son dont get it . Aj has an inferiority complex that has cause him to make really bad mistakes that make irreparable damage .like the accident with Jason. And it stems from growing up in that family with Edward. He has never felt good enough and Michael was the thing that was gonna make him good enough.Aj didnt see Michael as a person he didnt laugh with him or play with him when Michael lived there. He just knew that Michael belonged to him and that Michael is a Heir for Edward ... all this was to please Edward and to have something thats his. He even said When he thought Carly was pregnant for Jason " he took my child to ima take his " .He kidnapped Michael and told him that Sonny Jason and Carly didnt want him .Didnt care about him. Carly may have her flaws and she messed up a bunch of times but she was a first time mom with no money and if Aj and Toni didnt promise to take her baby away from her as soon it was born while she was still pregnant she wouldnt have gotten desperate.

Thing is, Jason would have never done something like this, he would have, and probably did, (i didn't watch the hearing) fight honorably for Michael. It's AJ who took the criminal road, not Jason. That's what I don't get, Sonny and Jason will willingly break the law on a daily basis, but when they're in custody battles, they play it fair and even.

Back in the day when I watched this in real time, I didn't disagreed with AJ fighting for Michael, even fighting dirty at the beginning. But AJ never ever did the self work to be the kind of father that he insisted that Michael needed and deserved. I don't doubt that AJ loved Michael, as much as he was capable, but only as a extension of himself, as a trophy to hold up for Edward and Alan to prove his worth. Michael became an unhealthy obsession for AJ. And he was destructive and self-focused about his "rights" and abusive and childish in nearly every single interaction with a young Michael that it became less about Michael, the person, than it was about AJ beating out his brother and Carly and later Sonny. It was about conquering his enemies and laying Michael on the altar of his ego for the Qs to worship. AJ was a total wreak as a person and he had a lot of help getting there, Edward and Alan inflicted untold damage on him and had a lot to answer for there. But AJ never really took responsibility for his own actions, choices, and path. He never really addressed his demons in a productive way to help him become the kind of father Michael need, he was much more content to blame everyone else for his shortcomings and failures.

They thought they were protecting him from a life of being known as the kid who killed his stepmother. They did not want him labeled a killer. I get choked up watching AJ talk to Alan. He had the ability not to get so bad and vindictive but he insisted on keeping Carly in his life. BIG mistake. That woman is destructive and crazy. He should have let her go. I don't like Carly at all, but if AJ had been willing to be reasonable and set up joint custody he could have had his son and been rid of Carly. Instead he chose to hold on to Carly and play an all or nothing game with Michael. smh

Exactly. It wasn't enough to share Michael. AJ threatened Carly with sending her back to Ferncliff. Edward threatened Carly with a restraining order against her own son. Both actions are every bit as ugly as what Sonny did..... and they acted first.

Just lina hell, they threatened to take Michael away from Carly before he was even born. That was AJ s first big mistake. If he had treated Carly the way Jason did, he would have gained Carly’s loyalty and things might have been completely different. They all read Carly wrong. They all thought Carly wanted money. But she had ample opportunity for money and turned it down. What she really wanted was love and respect. That was why she loved Jason so. He never treated her with anything but respect. And Carly was no worse than Monica and Alan. She had no more affairs than Monica and no more than Alan. Alan had illegitimate children and. Monica treated Jason like dirt for the first couple of years. The Quartermaines lied and cheated and blackmailed each other on a daily basis. And their business dealings were as crooked as Sonny’s.

I agree with Zawadi Brown. Carly is destructive and crazy and when people take revenge on her it is hard to find fault with them wanting to, but it always backfires on them. Men just get crushed under Carly's heel. Carly's first big mistake with AJ was drugging him. Why did she need to do that? Don't tell me she didn't want money. If she wanted love and respect, she would have stayed in the nursing program her mother and stepfather paid tuition for.

She kept coming up with the “big plan” to assure she would get what she wanted. But she could never foresee what was going to happen if her plan failed which it nearly always did.

Even Jason asked her what she would do if he offered her a million dollars to sign over her rights to Michael, to him and leave town. She told him she would tell him to go to hell. People misjudged Carly when they thought all she cared about was money. That was why they could never win over her. They never recognized her motivations. Years later, Jax and Carly would make the same mistake about Sam. Yeah, she liked money, but she never lied, cheated, or stole to get money. Those tactics she reserved for more important things. What Carly really wanted was Jason and Michael. She never got Jason, so she settled for Sonny and Michael.

OMG, lmao, all Carly wanted was money. Carly was resentful of Bobbie's money so she 1) showed up with a resentment and executed a premeditated plan to undermine Bobbie's marriage; 2) drugged AJ the rich vulnerable Quartermaine to sleep with him so she would get pregnant since AJ inconveniently wasn't a drunk right then, and yeah, so AJ wouldn't remember cuz after all Carly loves AJ's brother so much, but inconveniently did not become pregnant by him, and 3) had no appreciation whatsoever for the wonderful adoptive mother she had who could have been an example to follow, but Virginia didn't have enough money. Oh right, Carly just wanted love.

Alan turned into a pill addict, Emily was in heroine and tried to fly off a roof, Monica turned to drinking, both Ned and Dillion couldnt wait to get out of that house. Look how they tear each other a part and put each other down, pitting them against each other that is the whole reason AJ is the way he is now.
