Jason Dornstar got his start shining shoes serendipitously one morning at the Denver International Airport while acting like he was an employee at one of the Executive Shine Stands. After this exhilarating experience and earning a quick 40 dollars, Jason went on to be an Art curator for a local brewery in Denver in his free time. A few years later, Jason was offered a full time position Shining Shoes at Nordstrom in South Denver Colorado. He was searching for references to learn from in the shoe shine community and found Mike Wilson on KZbin. Mike Wilson was shining shoes with such a classic and authentic approach to the art of the shine. While watching Mike Wilson pop his rags while Mike listened to jazzy funky beats in his office, Jason was inspired to make a shoe shine video of his own. After Jason created a few videos he soon ended up catching the attention of The O.G. Mike Wilson himself. The small but often cheeky rivalry was then born. Jason still considers Mike Wilson as the originator of shoe shine videos on KZbin and contributes most of his success to the inspiration he recieved from Mike Wilson.
After honing in on his skills as a professional shoe shiner, he was encouraged by his loyal following of subscribers on KZbin to continue creating these videos. A couple of years later, after traveling to Hong Kong to teach the Art of Shoe Shine to future business owners, he made a name for himself in the Global Shoe Shine Community by trailblazing his way top the top on social media. Jason continues to teach and inspire many new faces in the Shoe Shine Community while serenading the ASMR Community with the subtle sounds of the Shine.

ASMR has been around for a long time. I personally experienced it for the first time in 1969 during my 7th grade history class. It was the day of our semi-final exams and our teacher (Mr Silvera) was passing out our mimeographed test papers that he had just printed from his mimeograph machine in the back room. The smell of the mimeograph paper combined with the sound of the paper in his hands was intoxicating as he slid each page of the test from the stack in his left hand and place it on our desk one page at a time. The soft sounds of the paper combined with the smells were incredible. I don't remember how many pages the test was but it was at least 5 or 6 pages. He did this for all his students, about 30 of us. It took him about 10 minutes to finish passing out the test papers before we could begin our test. By that time, I was ready to go to sleep! The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up and the tingling sensation was overwhelming. I was even worried that something was wrong with me. But the relaxed state I was in made that worry of no consequence. I just let it flow and I felt great. I didn't know why but I didn't care. Anyway, that was the first time. There have been many times since then. It wasn't until around 2014 that I heard about ASMR and realized what I had experienced all those years before! Since then, I've watched many ASMR videos!

Here’s a question: I used the wrong tint of Saphir Renovator Cream to repair some scuffs in my brown boots and now they have “tobacco brown” or slightly red tints filling in the cracks. I ordered a different color renovator and hopefully got it right this time but whats the best way to remove the old filler and essentially start over?

If the discolor spot is on the toe cap still after all those waxes and creams and little dye, I think it would have been better to leather dye the entire shoe black mainly on the toe caps and deep conditioning the shoe with shoe cream for a day. Great shoe shine though 🌟👞

Dear lord..there are still Shoe Shine boys out there? Where I live I've never seen one so I didn't know people still did that. I'm kinda a sucker for stuff like that the older I get the more I enjoy stuff from a time before my own. First time I ever saw something having to do with shoe shining was the reruns of the Underdog cartoon where Underdog's secret identity was named "Shoe Shine Boy".
