One of the reasons why China could last so long as a country is its sheer size making the foreign invader unable to reach the interior especially when the transportation infrastructure didn't exist before. Most westerners condemn China's HSR, that accounts for 2/3 of the global installations, unprofitable and should not be built. Yet the fast transportation in China's case has mobilised it population to the degree not seen in any country. Fundamentally in the Chinese culture the "common prosperity" is an important characteristics. Therefore if the eastern coast provinces are doing well the Central government will have the resources to improve the lives of the inner poorer provinces. Once they have roads and HSR the lives of the poor province like Gansu transforms. It is true due to its geography and population layout with mountainous terrain Gansu will never be able to get as rich as the Eastern provinces where the main manufacturing and commercial operations are located. Nevertheless poorer provinces are now being modernised, poverty alleviated and standard of living improved. Another game changing event taking place at the remote regions like Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet is while the harsh environment of these places cannot support large population they do have ample land, sunshine and wind so these are where China has been installing the large mega scale hydro power plants, solar parks and wind farms. These renewable energy brings employments, industries and income to these provinces.

@gunsumwong3948

@@ともこともこ-k3r Wile I agree China had changed very little over a long history that was due to the limit of transportation in older times. Japan, Korea and ASEAN countries all got some Chinese influence in their languages and that was via the transportation by sea. The Mongols could spread because they used horses. The British empire was built on ocean going gunboats and the USA won the WW2 because it had more airplanes than the opposition. China long history does have an advantage of solidifying a culture more coherent than other nations. Countries like Japan, South Korea and India would give up their root and culture and replace then with those from the west. China doesn't have to do that. Its governance system is still based on the system that has existed for thousands of years and that is to let the people scoring the highest in public examination to work in government. Thus China's own one party system that the west has been condemning works well in China because it was a Chinese system that has stood the test of time for several thousands of years. Your cat's wheel is a simplification of a tiny window of looking at China at one spot of its history.

unfortunately with the fast development, a lot of historical and beautiful places have been destroyed over the past 30 years, not to mention about the destruction that occurred during the cultural revolution but it seem that now, local governments put the focus on saving and preserving the natural environment and the cultural sites more than before. I have been to many places in China (visited 27 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities out of the 32) and there are some awesome places, that need to be protected and respected

Thanks, Jason, mi lad for another of your nice video. This kind of ancient environments can only be found in China, in this 21st century. And this is NOT the only ancient place in China. China has over the years been doing it's best to preserve such places. Places like this with ancient environments are NOT found anymore in places in Japan, Taiwan or South Korea, if any. Simply because they are being "westernized" to the point of forgetting their ancestor' roots. Thank you & have a nice day

@@ともこともこ-k3r The Han Chinese do Not like to wear manchurian dress. Learn Chinese history. Why? It was a history of humiliation during the Qing dynasty. And they were/are not Han Chinese. They were/are manchurian Chinese. They were the barbarians from the north that invaded n conquered China. They were the minority race that control China with a ruthless laws. But to be civilised, they adopted all n or most things Chinese . Their dressing was not one of them. And one of the things they introduced was bind feet. Not a nice thing. I know, why ? Because my great grandmother was with bind feet. About 4 inches. Hanfu is the Han Chinese dressing which is now very popular in China.
