Taylor Larson's mixes are terrible now. Especially with Jason's music for some reason.
@orbithesun12 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and that’s good thing! With that nasally 1960’s transistor radio distortion, how many non shred guitarist would want to listen?
@andyham60942 жыл бұрын
@@HeFoundAgartha I used to love his work especially the p2 album is one of my favorite albums of all time but I agree, nolly has surpassed him by far now. Nolly switches up different mixing styles based on the band’s style. It seems all of Taylor lardon’s mixes sound identical to one another and the lead is alittle low even on the album.

While, as another viewer has mentioned, the lead guitar is rather buried in the mix, the video is otherwise superb: Jason performs with spectacular precision and prowess, as expected; and the filmography is steady, conservative, and pleasant to watch. I can actually enjoy and watch Jason play without being thoroughly nauseated by a Joey Sturgis-style shaky-cam...

Try one if you get the chance, played a 6 at the store. I have a 3 toggle Ibanez that is easy to accidentally bump one because they move up/down but the Richardson's move sideways.

The new album is so boring. His music overall is. Same robotic over-produced chugging over and over, nonsensical leads and no taste. The lack of a vocalist is also disheartening and contributes to the same cookie-cutter sound of all his songs.

I feel that the general concern people have with technique-driven music like this is that there is no “song” element to it in the sense of what the mainstream audience considers to be a song. You know, the ear worm melodies and catchy hooks that you remember for years. Absolutely nothing wrong with what Jason does but I don’t think it’s fair to hate on him for not writing the kind of music that one might expect from a guitarist. That said, I think the world desperately needs some of that song-centric melody heavy guitar music!!
@HeFoundAgartha2 жыл бұрын
@@nellatruc yeah he’s no doubt incredibly talented and his skills are more than impressive. I used to think his music was fun to listen to the first few times but it just got old quickly. I also think Taylor Larson’s production doesn’t help. It’s way too polished and always sounds the same. That combined with Jason’s near perfect playing makes things sound way too cookie-cutter for me. Not to mention all the cheesy plugins strewn about through every song.
